THE NEXT DAY

Me and Minji hung out at a nearby park after school for a few hours and she dropped me off at home just now. As a little surprise, she gave me a small polaroid picture she received from the pub yesterday. It was me holding the bouquet she gifted me and her hugging me from behind with a proud smile and thumbs up. I stared at the picture with a childish grin and got inside my house.
"Yoojung, I'm home!"
I didn't hear a response which was kind of odd of him. I didn't pay much attention to it since he could be working on a project with his headphones on. I went towards the living room to turn on the TV and watch the news.
"A 22 year old man was a victim of a hit and run car accident and is in a serious critical state with a low chance of survival. The names haven't been confirmed yet, but it's possible the hit and run was a planned one.
That was awful! I absolutely hated such accidents because it brought back flashbacks of the car accident with my parents. It was getting slightly late so I got worried as to where Yoojung could be. I went upstairs to his room and knocked on his door. No response.
"Maybe he's out with his friends? But he usually texts me when he goes out."
I knocked one more time before entering and saw that he was not here. I noticed a yellow note on his desk and went over to it to read what was written.
"Hey Yooh, if you're reading this, it means I went out to get groceries. Sorry for not texting, my battery died! See ya in a bit!"
"Oh, so he's out to buy groceries. I was worried for nothing."
I went back downstairs and I heard the news reporter give more updates about the hit and run accident.
"The doers of the crime have been reported to be two by the police. An adult man and a student. They are yet to be caught and questioned by the police."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How could someone do such thing? I went to grab my phone to watch some videos, only to be surprised to see 7 missed calls by Handong and 10 more by Bora.
"Why were they calling me so many times? Too curious about me, huh?"
I quickly dialed Bora's number, only to hear her panicking and on the verge of breaking down. I got very worried and tried to help her stay calm and explain what happened after she was finally relaxed.
"Yoohyeon I'm- I'm in Santa Maria hospital with Handong right now and.. it's about your brother!"
"What? What about him? Where is he?"
"He's here! And- And it's seriously bad. Please Yoohyeon, you need to come here right now!"
"Hold on, explain what's going on first."
