Part 3 - The Truth, Crushes, and Other Things that are Scary

Brooke:! (Coral passes Brooke inside. Brooke noticed her.)

(Coral throws V's hoodie into the washing machine and starts it.)

(Brooke gets up and follows Coral as she leaves the laundry room.)

(Coral goes into a dressing room and rummages through a closet of dresses.)

Brooke: Hey, Beanie.

Coral: Oh, hey Brooke! It's a nice night, isn't it? (Coral turns. Brooke stands in the doorway.)

Brooke: Yeah, I guess. (She shrugs.)

Coral: Ooh, which one do you think I would look better in? Dress A or Dress B?

Brooke: Why? (She turns around and holds up two dresses.)

Coral: Well, I'm going on a da- uh, I don't know. I'm not going on a date! I- I was about to make a joke, but then I realized you wouldn't appreciate it! Nope, I have no date planned! (She turns red and panics, but has an awkward smile.)

Brooke: *sigh* (She looks down with her eyes closed.)

Brooke: Coral, we- we need to talk. (She closes the door behind her.)

Coral: About what? (She looks nervous as she sets the two dresses down.)

Brooke: You're going on a date with V tonight, aren't you?

Coral: [whispered] ... Yeah... (Brooke sits down and tries to look at Coral, but Coral turns away.)

(They both sit in silence for a moment.)

Brooke: Coral, Beanie, I'm not very happy with you right now. Pearl told me that you've been sneaking out of the house at night. (Brooke looks at Coral.)

Coral: She did?

Brooke: Yeah. I just can't believe that she also thought it would be a good idea. I thought she would help look after you, not get you into trouble! (Coral looks sheepish.)

Coral: But we haven't been getting into trouble! Seriously! We've just been-

Brooke: You've been affiliating yourself with the prince of the Octarians, that's what. (Coral looks frantic as she tries to defend herself.)

Coral: You knew?

Brooke: I heard your conversation earlier. That's the only way I know. (They talk.)

Coral: So you heard all of what V was saying! So, you'd know that he-

Brooke: Once I heard that, I left. I didn't need to know anymore. Even now that you know he's the family of one of our enemies, you still want to go out with him? (Brooke crosses her arms.)

Coral: Yes.

Brooke: Why? (Brooke stands up and Coral appears ashamed.)

Coral: Because he's really nice! It's not like V is a bad guy! He doesn't want to be the future king, he wants to help us!

Brooke: Coral, he's supposed to be our enemy, whether he wants to or not. He's going to have to fight us, and he'll hurt you. I don't want that to happen. (They talk.)

Coral: He wouldn't hurt me! Or any of us! Maybe he's supposed to be the king someday, but that doesn't mean he would hurt us! He's told me that he doesn't want to fight! (She argues.)

Brooke: And we're supposed to believe everything he says, aren't we? (Brooke comes closer.)

Coral: N-no, but... I trust him! (Coral looks down.)

Coral: And, I think- I think I might... like him. (She blushes.)

(Brooke looks really surprised.)

(Her surprise shifts to anger.)
