Technical Difficulties (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - Guys, Get-Togethers, and Other Bad Ideas

Coral: Well, true, but I think you might be a little paranoid. If there's no sign of a fight, then there's no fight!

Brooke: [Thought] Unless someone's purposely hiding the signs. I'm not being paranoid. (They're both in bed.)

Coral: Alright, good night, Brooke! Sleep good!

Brooke: G'night, Beanie. (Coral happily snuggles under the covers.)

(Brooke stares at the ceiling. The clock beside her reads 11:07.)

(For a while, she's still wide awake.)

(Brooke glances over at Coral, who is sleeping peacefully. The clock says 11:53.)

(Someone passes by her window in a shadow. Brooke doesn't notice.)

Nicki: [whispered] Did you do everything you were supposed to?

Micki: Yeah, everything's in place.

Nicki: Even the top level?

Micki: Yep! (They both walk down a fire escape.)

Micki: So, uh, is this gonna be dangerous? (._.) Or messy?

Nicki: Hopefully both. If it's not, then things went wrong. But it won't be any danger to us. Or messy. We'll be inside to make sure everything works, but it's our own ink, you know. (They keep going.)

Micki: Good! | (• ◡•)| I would hate to get this new coat all messy!

Nicki: *sigh* Just stop talking, please. We're supposed to be quiet out here.

Micki: Oh, right! Sorry! (They go into their octopus form and slip through a pipe.)

(Brooke finally has her eyes closed.)

Brooke: Nnn... (She switches to her other side in her sleep, and her face scrunches up, like she's having a bad dream.)

(Her feet kick around from under the blankets.)

(She's sweating and looks scared, even though she's asleep.)

Brooke: *gasp* (She wakes up, but she stays lying down.)

(She glances over at Coral, who's still sleeping peacefully.)

Brooke: *sigh* (She stares at the ceiling again and tries to go back to sleep.)

(Some ooze is leaking out of the air conditioning unit right above Brooke.)

Sound effect: Splp

Brooke: Huh? (She opens one eye as some of the sanitizing-substance falls on her cheek.)

Sound effect: Drip drip drip

Brooke: Ugh... What the... (She sits up as ooze leaks out of the air conditioning unit above her. She wipes the ooze off her face.)

Brooke: [thought] What is this stuff? (She fingers the ooze as she gets up and puts her other hand against the AC unit.)

Sound effect: tic tic

Brooke: [Thought] Can't I get some decent sleep? Of COURSE this thing had to start dripping now. (Brooke pushes a panel aside to look inside the AC unit, where a green bomb sits.)

Brooke: [Thought] Okay, what's that? (Her head is now up in the unit. She looks confused.)

Brooke: Oh my gosh! (The bomb has a countdown on it for ten-ish minutes.)

Brooke: Coral, get up!

Coral: Huh? Wha? Brooke... it's la~ate. Go back to sle~ep. (Brooke shakes Coral awake.)

Brooke: I can't let you sleep. There's a problem. Get your gear on, and let's go. Make it fast.

Coral: Huh? What's wrong?

Brooke: There's a bomb right above us. It's filled with some weird ooze. We have to contact the other agents. They're also in the building. Oh, I knew something had to be happening soon. (Coral starts getting up.)

Nicki: Hey, Micki, how long did you set the countdown for the bombs?

Micki: Mmmm... about ten minutes! (Nicki's starting to get impatient.)

Micki: What? (Similar shot, but Nicki looks disapprovingly at Micki.)

Nicki: Idiot! Why did you set them for that long? (She gets up angrily.)

Micki: Well, I knew fifteen minutes was too long, but I felt like giving people five minutes before they go off was too short! These people know nothing; they need a fair fight! (Micki shrugs.)

Nicki: Idiot. Idiot. IDIOT! Five minutes would've been too long!

Micki: [quiet] Baka... (She yells at Micki and Micki is embarrassed.)

Nicki: You know what? Whatever. I'll just go get the agents myself. And if you feel like not giving the agents an advantage anymore, then come with me. We need to get this done. (Nicki walks off angrily.)
