━━ chapter thirty-three home; a long, long way away ( savreen )

━━Only when the light faded did Savreen open her eyes. It took her a while to register the world around her; she blinked the blur in her gaze, and soon found herself amazed. The entire battlefield was at loss of monsters━each and every one had been vaporised into nothing as their eyes met the death of Hera's true form. All ice had melted; the snowy sky had returned to a dull night as the sun finally set. She breathed heavily, cheeks stained with tears. She felt Leo's hand rest on her back as he, too, tried to comprehend all that had happened. She met his gaze, desperate to know he was okay. He nodded and she sighed, relieved. She searched for Piper, and wanted to cry with happiness to see her stare back at her. There was one more she needed to check━one other that she desperately needed to know whether he was okay━
Savreen found Jason, and her heart dropped.
He was lying there━amongst the rubble, and the melted snow ... and he wasn't moving. Her breath hitched; her heart started to pound━painful and aching within her stomach until it rose right up to her throat. She found herself suddenly unable to breathe ... her chest closed in. She waited there, frozen, waiting for him to move. They all were. They waited ... they waited ... they waited for him to stand up and smile at them, having won all over again━and yet so modest and caring about it, instead making sure they were all right ... congratulating them.
"Jason?" croaked out Savreen, her voice breaking. He didn't stir. He didn't move. She shook her head. No. He will get up. "Jason?" she tried a bit louder this time, thinking that perhaps he didn't hear before.
And just like that, the frozen hesitance and shook broke between them. Savreen saw Piper's whole facade drop━horror spread across her entire face, "N━No━!" she forced herself back up and flung herself towards Jason at a stumbling run. "No! Jason━!" she dropped to his side, trying to shake his shoulders. "Jason!" her words cracked as a sob threatened to rise up her throat. "Jason, wake up! Come on you dumbass━get up━!"
Savreen and Leo shared a distraught glance. He left her and rushed to Piper's side, holding an arm around her as she continued to desperately tried to wake Jason Grace up━she shook his still body, again and again and again. "No!' she cried, hovering over him. "No. Come on, come on━this can't be happening ... Jason, please ..."
"Pipes..." Leo tried gently but she threw him off, hiccuping back more cries.
"No," said Piper, stern. "No━this━this can't be happening. He's━he's going to wake up! Jason!" her eyes closed and she leaned forward against his chest, and Savreen saw her whisper something. She didn't hear it, but Piper McLean had muttered: "I can't lose you ... I only just got to know you ... I wanted to get to know you..."
