The assault just wouldn't stop.

The bluebird cried out in pain, but the crow continued.

It just had to inflict that much more pain.

Obviously, it wanted to stop.

Even the idiotic bluebird had grown close to the crow. They shared an inseparable bond.

But, looking at the dangers ahead, it couldn't think of any other possibility.

The bluebird was just that weak, and the crow was that strong.

So it pecked, and pecked, and pecked.

But at some point, the bluebird stopped making noise entirely.

The crow, in his panic, thought it had killed the bluebird.

It looked down and... the bluebird wasn't dead.

No—it was enduring the pain without making any sounds.

The bluebird was stronger than the crow thought.

The day before Ayanokōji Kiyotaka bought a gift for Nakamura Shuuji's birthday...

[AUTHOR'S NOTE: Volume 1, Chapter 20.]

Izumi really was an incredibly innocent girl. She unknowingly displayed her affection for Nakamura day in and day out. It was obvious to everyone looking on, and the people around her—Mimimi, me, Takahiro and even Takei—will make sure these two lovebirds get together. Takahiro once called them "idiotic," but I don't think that was a fitting description. I mean, it may be due to my own lack of experience, but it was quite interesting to see a human being madly in love in real life. I'd never been given the chance to develop such feelings for myself, so I wanted to see and objectively judge from an outside perspective:

How would such feelings affect an individual? What would they think? Would they change? It was interesting and amusing to watch. I sincerely hoped they'd get together; for their and my sake.

Anyway, I should probably start thinking about what to buy for Nakamura. We didn't know each other at all. Well, I knew him better than he thought. He was easy to see through after all. Such a stubborn guy couldn't hide many secrets. Maybe I can support Izumi by giving her a hidden hint—

"Senpai~!"

Just as I was about to head home, a girly voice called out to me. I didn't recognize it, and when I turned around, I realized I'd never seen this girl before. She had scarlet straight hair tied into twin tails laced with red ribbons. A strange feeling arose within me when I looked into her gradient dark-red eyes.

"Sorry, but I have to go," I said and turned around. There was something very off about this encounter, and I didn't possess enough motivation to deal with it.

"There's something I need to talk to you about, senpai. Please follow me."

"Follow you where?"

"Into the abandoned classroom you use for your meetings with Hinami-senpai."

I stopped in my tracks.

Whoever this girl was, she definitely knew something about me. She intentionally revealed that last tidbit of information to make me more aware of her presence. Now I even had an inkling as to her identity. But even so, that was a really bizarre place.
