3rd person POV

Indiana knew when people were bad, she knew when they were scheming and she knew what to look for but she wasn't prepared for it to be a 13-year-old girl. Ariel had stayed at the stables and they all watched her. that was until the door opened and there stood marcus looking at them

"there you are i've been looking everywhere for you, the training center called, they want me to do my exam today. are you ready?" he asked and she looked at pin, gaby and zoe and then back at her boyfriend

"as ready as i'll ever be" she said and she pet ariel one last time before she opened the door and smiled

"come on golden boy, we can do this" she stated and she wrapped her hand around his as they walked to macs stall and looked at him. indiana walked in as she grabbed his lead and led him out of the stall to see heather walking in

"that's it, this is the death of me and i just died" indiana said and marcus smiled as he ran his hand over her arms and nodded. he kissed her forehead as they looked around

"it's just us today , ignore her" he said and he walked to the tack room as he grabbed everything for mac and walked back out.

"we have a little time to wash him down and get him ready, so you think you can do this?" he asked and for once indiana could feel the anxiety radiating of her boyfriend. it was usually her who would be freaking out and needing help to stay calm and think but in that moment, it looked like her boyfriend was about to explode with anxiety and she needed to help him. she put macs lead down after she tied it to the post and she grabbed marcus by his hands and made eye contact

"you are going to do amazing, i'm not scared of this type of thing anymore m. i've had to do it multiple times and it gets easier every time. you however haven't done this and you're freaking out i can feel it. you have helped me and everyone else so much but who's helping you? marcus you are a golden boy and i know that no matter what you have made everyone else at this stable a better person and a better rider so trust me when i say that you're going to be okay and i'll be there no matter what" she said and he finally took the deep breathe in and he let it out. he sighed as he nodded and took her words in. he leaned down as he put his forehead to hers and they smiled together.

"now let's wash my horse and do this. they'll be here in 20 minutes" she stated and he nodded as he kissed her and they walked over to mac. they managed to brush him down, wash him , dry him and tack him up before the examiner got there. indiana smiled at marcus as she grabbed his hands and made sure that he took another deep breathe.

"you and me golden boy, you and me" she said and they walked out to the field as he set up the jumps and everything that was needed. indiana brought mac out as a girl walked in and towards them

"marcus? felicity bell. nice to meet you. someone's in a lively mood" She said and then she turned to indiana

"you must be his trainee" she said and indiana shook her head with a smile

"indiana stone nice to meet you" she spoke and the girl nodded

"alright, let's get started. i'd like to see you run a jumping lesson, and then show me around the yard and talk me through your training methods" She told them and marcus nodded

"sounds great, indiana is one of my best riders" he said and indiana walked over to mac as she climbed onto him and rode over. the girl look at mac and then indi

"you two are quite the pair" she said and indiana smiled

"he's been here for a while, let's get going shall we?" she said and she followed marcus ad she went from low to high jumps flawlessly. she let mac lead until she heard ariel banging

"what on earth is wrong with that horse?" felicity asked and indiana sighed as ariel ran by and she shared a look with marcus as she went and did the course again

"flawless both times, you know the horse and the horse knows you. i've never seen such a bond between a horse, a girl and her trainer" Felicity spoke and indiana smiled brightly

"thank you" she spoke and she got off of mac with the help of marcus as he pet macs side and ran his thumb over the back of indianas hand.

"time for a look around the yard, after you" felicity stated and they nodded as they walked into the yard. indiana made sure that felicity couldn't see raven or ariel. indiana held marcus's hand as they led her through the yard and told her where everyone was and where their horses were. she made sure that they stalled her long enough so that they would be safe and she was half to find hot that they were

"you've got a good thing going here. bright fields is a great place to earn your stripes" Felicity told marcus

"we're very lucky and hopefully i'll be another one of those stripes today?" he said and indiana noticed that he held his breathe and so she did too

"sadly, today wasn't your day" felicity said as she handed him a paper and indiana wanted to murder the girl that stood in front of her but she didn't. she stood next to marcus as she read the paper with him

"i failed" he said sadly

"look, i can't fault your training methods,  there was something missing" She told him

"yeah like your mind"indiana said under her breathe and marcus nudged her

"it's because i quit the academy, isn't it?" he asked

"absolutely not. that place is overrated, in my opinion. a good instructor has a fail-safe training program, but a great one in instinctive. i just didn't feel that you were reacting to the rider in front of you. it's almost of the course had been designed for someone else but it wasn't" she said and she walked off as she got in her car and indiana sighed

"marcus" indiana said and he turned as he wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him. she let him as she comforted him and let him hold her as close as he needed to.

he had wanted that for so long but now he failed and he needed his girlfriend which he had her and that was all he needed. marcus needed indiana and he had her.
