Chapter Thirty-Four

Queen, officially.

I had always known ever since I was a small child that I was to be a queen not a lady or just a princess I wanted to be a queen so while my friends were out playing, I was in archery and studying maps and literature.

And now it's true after all this time the reason Viserys named me Queen of The North was for the simplest reason, I was his heir after Rhaenyra refused the throne despite being heir for years and daemon being well Daemon Viserys named me as his heir by passing all of his children with Alicent. At least that's what he just said. In open court in front of everyone.

I glanced at Rhaenyra who now held a tight grip on my hand "I agree Daph" She smiled I nodded at her before looking at Daemon as Rhaenyra let go of my hand

"I could not picture a more beautiful queen" he whispered close to my ear

I looked at Rhaenys who simply bowed her head before I hugged her tightly.

"Daphne Stark" Viserys called I stepped forward then moved closer to him "Queen to Westos and the north, and to be my successor, my heir and rightful ruler after I to the iron throne" he announced with his arms raised as I turned around he placed a crown on my head as the onlookers were shocked

"A woman?" A mumble came from across the room

"Not just any woman, her." Rhaneyra announced proudness lacing her words "my sister" she smiled and held my arm as Viserys held my other I smiled at them both

The party was grand and loud. I sat next to Viserys with Rhaneyra a free seat over to my right while James' head lay across my lap, his body laying on the free seat I smiled down at the half asleep boy and played with his hair

"And to think I believed you only did that to me your grace" Daemon stated now stood between my chair and Viserys

"He is tired Daemon" I told him shushing him

"I'll get a guard to-" I cut him off

"James" I whispers in to the boys ear quietly before he sat up rubbing his eyes

"Mama" he smiled

He may be eleven and a smart child but he's a softy and we have grown quite close

"James" Daemon scolded

"It is alright" I smiled "come on let us get you to bed" I stood up as did he and followed my few steps until we stopped again

"Leave me then" Daemon groaned I laughed and held my hand out to him he glanced at it then at me and smiled taking it

"Child" I muttered as he took my hand and we guided James down the ballroom

"Cunt" Liliana announced I looked at Daemon before Charlotte, my brothers wife came to my side

"I'll take him your grace" she bowed her head as james turned to me

"Kill her" he uttered smiling before letting go of my hand and hugging me

"My child." Liliana yelled going for charlotte I stepped in between and held a dagger to Liliana's throat shocking many

"Enough" I said quietly "leave now" I uttered she looked petrified.

"Cunt" she uttered before my fist met her face and she met the floor

"How many more times must I hit you before you take the hint?"

"Daemon" she glanced up at him "my love please-"

I hit her again "one word even a grunt and I have your head as my new table place" I met her eyes

She said nothing so I continued "Guards" I stated and my new head guard walked over "take her" I ordered and he did as I turned around to met everyone's eyes "family" I announced "that Liliana is not"

"What of James then your grace?" Lord Cregan stark asked, my cousin and my fill in for whenever I was away

I glanced at Daemon "He is-"

"Basically her son" Daemon said plainly before shrugging

"Excuse me, I should check on him"

"Ah yes mother duties" a drunken old lord announced I looked at him "rather a mother than a queen" he laughed

"Cregan" I annoyed

"I'll deal with him" he uttered before going over to the man then basically dragging him out

"You know your grace" Rhaenyra said joining my side "I could get use to angry you reminds me of you with the septa" we laughed

"Fuck the septa" I smiled before looking at Alicent who sat with her children "shit"

"Fuck her too you deserve the throne more than those bastards"

"Hey technically they are not bastards"

"But if they were never born the throne would've gone from me to you" she smiled "I wouldn't have it any other way neither would my mother have" I wrapped my arm around hers

"Aemma would've raised hell" I laughed

"As would of Margery" Rhaenyra stated I nodded

"She would've been pissed that I was overstepping men but she always knew I was a bitch" we both laughed "I should go check on James" I told her

She nodded and I let go of her arm "save me some cake" I uttered she smiled "and wine" she laughed before I turned and left

Daemon soon joined my side "leaving so soon?" He asked before interlacing our hands

I smiled "he is a scared little boy who just told me to kill his mother" I told him as we walked through the corridors

"Perhaps we should" Daemon stated I looked at him and stopped walking

"She is a pain in my ass too Daemon but-"

"She beats him Daphne" he sounded guilty "blames him for my-"

"Choice?" I asked

For a while I had forgotten that I was hand picked for Daemon, for a while I thought he loved me for my brilliance and my mind but it started with how I looked

"Your fighting capability is the reason I choose you Daphne" he admitted "your mind, you were educated and hated me" Daemon laughed "But the day Viserys made you and a few other ladies line up-"

"Liliana was there" I realised nodding

"I wouldn't have picked any different even now" he smiled holding my hands

"I'm not as annoying as She"

"No you my queen are much much worse" he joked I playfully hit his arm

"I am not annoying" I laughed

"Sure you are not my love" he smiled before kissing my hands

"You're an ass" I told him

I finally understand it all why I was handpicked, Viserys loved me like a daughter, Aemma fought for me and now I'm queen of the north
