Kabanata 14: Concern

Abala akong naghuhugas sa mga pinggan dito sa karenderya nang bigla na lamang tumunog ang cellphone ko.

I ignore it first dahil kailangan pa itong mga pinggang to sa labas lalo na't marami nanaman kasing kustomer ang karenderya.

Ewan ko lang talaga but lately kasi ay medyo marami-raming tao na ang kumakain dito but I can't blame them though. Not to brag but the karenderya have the best chef.

Nagring ulit ang cellphone ko kaya itinigil ko muna ang paghuhugas at nilapitan ang cellphone ko sa lamesa.

My forehead knotted when I saw Ada's number.

I answered it and greeted.

“Hello, ate! Thank you for picking it up” she uttered through the phone.

“Bakit? May problema ba?” I talked as I sat down.

Napatingin ako kay ate tel at ate jamel na kakapasok lang sa kusina na nagbabangayan kaya wala akong nagawa at lumabas na lamang para mas marinig ko si Ada.

“Ada? Ano nga iyong sinasabi mo?” tanong ko and I heard her heaved a sigh.

“Mommy will talk to you ate, we need your help if you can help us” she uttered and I waited.

“Lize?” tita called, her voice sounds so worried.

“Bakit po?” I answered

“Can you do me a favor?” she asked na nagpakunot ng noo ko.

“Ano po iyon?” I asked.

“Can you call xander and tell him to go home” She uttered at parang may pumitik sa tainga ko nang marinig ang pangalan ng lalake.

“Bakit po? May nangyari po ba?” nag-alalang tanong ko.

“He didn't came home last night. I don't know where he is and he's not picking his phone too. It's unattended but what's worst is that the Zambrano is planning the wedding by themselves! This is supposed to be a business agreement but they are deciding on their own!” Tita uttered frustratedly and worriedly through the phone na nagpakunot lalo ng noo ko.

And for some unknown reason, I feel nervous for him.

“But that's the least of my concern now. I must find where Xander is” dagdag nito.

“Do you have Xander's number?” I heard Xavier asked through the phone.

“W-wala” I uttered

“Ada will message you his number. Try to dial him using your phone number. He might answer it” He uttered through the phone

I bid my goodbye after some few talks then looked at the message that Ada just sent me with Xander's number.

I immediately dialed it but it's unattended. I try few more calls but it's all unattended.

Pabalik na sana ako sa loob ng bigla na lamang may tumigil na taxi sa harapan ko.

I was about to ignore it when all of a sudden, a familiar figure went out from there.

“Xander?” I called, hoping that it's him.

He was talking to the taxi driver before he looked at me.

“Lize” tawag niya rin sa pangalan ko. Kaagad na kumunot ang noo kong nakatingin sa kanya at nilapitan sila.

“Anong ginagawa mo dito?” kunot noong tanong ko at tinignan si kuyang taxi driver.

“Ah sige sir, alis na po ako.” paalam ni kuya and Xander just nodded at him once before he drove away.

Tahimik kong dinala sa kusina ang lalake nang makaalis si kuya.
