"JJ, quit your stupid jokes! I'm trying to find something here" I snapped at my best friend as he continued laughing while we circled the aisle full of different types of pasta sauces.

"Now, what exactly are you looking for again?" He asked as I raised an eyebrow.

"Some pasta sauce my mom wanted" I threw my hands in the air as JJ snatched the list from my hands.

"Marinara sauce? I love marinara sauce!" He exclaimed before grabbing one from the rack and passing it to me.

"W-What? How did you?" My jaw hung agape as he snickered.

"It's called, use your eyes" He whispered as I rolled my eyes, walking to the cashier to pay for the groceries.

JJ was my childhood best friend. We had gone through thick and thin since we were young, so there was practically no secrets we could hide from each other.

He had came over to my house for dinner tonight, like almost every other night in a week. And for the first time, my mom sends me on a grocery trip with JJ.

"God, you weren't even helping" I groaned as JJ scoffed, snatching the bag of groceries from me the moment we walked out of the store.

"I am helping! See, I can be useful Y/n" He retaliated to prove a point as I nodded.

"Alright, you're taking all those stuff all the way home" I folded my arms across my chest.

"Fine by me" JJ shrugged as I laughed, shaking my head at how silly he was.

"We're back!" I announced my presence to my mother in the kitchen the moment JJ and I entered the house, shutting the door behind us.

"Just in time. Hurry, the pasta needs the sauce" My mom yelled back from the kitchen as I passed her the glass jar.

I often hear people say that mothers work magic, and I certainly believed it. Within the next 5 minutes, freshly made pasta was being served on the dining table by my parents as JJ and I stared in awe.

"That was...fast" JJ mumbled, mouth practically watering at the amount of food on the dining table.

"Do ya'll eat like this everyday?" JJ asked as I shrugged.

"Mm, occasionally. When they're in a good mood to cook" I whispered the last part as my dad came out of the kitchen.

"Guys, it's dinner time" He notified as JJ and I stood up and rushed towards the dinner table.

"Come, sit down. Try the seafood" My mom pointed to the fresh-looking seafood in a plate as we all sat down.

"The clams are amazing Mrs Y/l/n" JJ praised as he devoured them hungrily, earning a snicker from me.

"J, calm down. You're gonna choke and die" I laughed as my dad gave me a stern look.

"Y/n, we don't talk about death at the dining table" He raised an eyebrow as I surrendered.
