I walked along the row of shops as I headed in the direction of the chateau. I stopped by the beautiful wedding gown shop as I stared at the beautiful purple dress on display. I always loved the dresses here, they always made the best ones for midsummer. Just as I was about to continue walking, I heard familiar voices from inside the shop as I frowned. I pushed open the door gently as I spotted all the four Pogues dressed up, checking themselves in the mirror. "Guys? What are you doing here?" I asked as all of their heads whipped around and looked at me. Some in surprise, some in shock. "y/n! What are you doing here?" Sarah asked as I shrugged. "I don't know, I was about to head to the chateau before I heard you guys here laughing" I replied as she sighed.

"Well, we're preparing for a wedding. So we're trying out some outfits" Kie explained as I widened my eyes in surprise. "Wow, all of you guys look great! Who's getting married?" I asked as they all shrugged. "U-Umm, we don't know. Sarah said that someone was, and here we all are" JJ laughed awkwardly as I nodded slowly.

And so I didn't ask anymore questions. From that day onwards, I totally forgot about the wedding as I did summer adventures with the Pogues. Until one day, when I was casually sitting down on the sofa eating ice cream, the doorbell rang as I groaned. I left the bowl of ice cream on the table as I flung open the door to reveal a nervous Kie as she entered instantly before I shut the door slowly and looked at her.

"Um, Kie? You okay?" I asked her as she shook her head. "No y/n, I feel so bad" She sighed as I frowned. "What about?" I replied as she bit her lip. "Listen y/n, I-I don't know how to phrase this so that you don't feel hurt, but I need to tell you this. We have been lying to you. We know who's getting married" Kie spoke as I raised an eyebrow. "So it was a surprise! Oh come on, it's a wedding! How could I ever be mad?" I laughed as the words that followed made me regret my words, completely.

"It's JJ" She whispered as I gulped and turned to her, freezing. For the first time, I didn't know what to say to her. He had been my best friend since young, and he didn't even have the audacity to tell me that he was getting married? "Oh... that's great! I'm happy for him, who's the bride?" I asked her as she sighed. "It's Amelia," She said as I gulped.

The only Amelia I knew was Amelia Mckenzie Gomez. She was a kind soul, always helping everybody and had pretty smiles. No wonder JJ liked her. Of course he did, who wouldn't? "Hey, you know that it's just me, right? I know how you feel towards JJ, and you don't have to hide it" Kie said as I shrugged while I felt my heart sink like an anchor heading for the bottom of the sea.

"Fine, even if I liked him, what can I do now? He's getting married Kie! It is fucking selfish to just barge into their relationship and just confess. After all, it is my fault! I had 15 years to confess to him, but I didn't!" I screamed as tears streamed down my face, probably smudging my makeup along the way.
"It's okay y/n, you'll find someone better. Way better. Someone that loves you as much as you love them. Do not lose hope just yet" She comforted me as I nodded. "And in case you wanted to go to the wedding, I brought you a dress that Sarah and I had prepared for you in advance" Kie said as I looked at the baby blue floral dress and giggled. "It's super cute, I'll go" I sighed in defeat as she smiled. "I'm sure JJ would be happy to hear that" She smiled as I shrugged.

Fast forward to a few months later, I looked at myself in the mirror as I adjusted the satin dress slightly before putting on my matching heels. "y/n, we're gonna be late!" Kie screamed from the living room as I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag, rushing to where she was as she instantly spun around and her eyes widened.

"Holy- girl, you look fire!" She cheered me on as I laughed, winking at her. "Let's go, we're actually gonna be late" I rushed her out the door as we walked towards Kie's car as she drove us towards the wedding location. Of course, like classic JJ, the wedding was set up at the empty patch of grass near the beach and it took us less than five minutes to reach.

Once Kie parked her car, we both got out of the car and walked towards the huge crowd as I saw Pope, John B and Sarah. "You guys made it!" Sarah clapped as I felt Pope and John B's gaze on me. "Pope, John B, your girlfriends are like right here. Stop staring" I joked as we all started laughing as they tried to hide their embarrassment. "But it's not your fault that she's gorgeous, so I don't blame you" Sarah replied as I giggled even more.

Soon, the wedding was about to begin as we all took our seats. John B and Pope were with JJ as his best man in the front while Sarah, Kie and I sat down by the second row. As the music started, I couldn't help but notice JJ's wide smile while seeing his soon-to-be wife walking down the aisle. I turned to Amelia as I saw her in a drop dead gorgeous wedding dress as her brunette curls were flowing smoothly down her sides as I smiled. She was really pretty.

I turned back to JJ as I saw him staring at me as I gave him a thumbs up as he acknowledged it with a mini thumbs up as I flashed the biggest smile I ever have shown to drown out the inner emotions of pain and to block out the tears that were threatening to spill out at any moment. To watch the love of your life get married to someone that you barely know is really difficult, you've always wanted to protect him from all the danger in his life and now this someone new comes into his life and sort of just takes over your job, and you don't even know whether they will do a good job.

I snapped out of my thoughts as I saw Amelia standing in front of JJ as I wiped away any tears that threatened to spill. I somehow had missed all their speeches while my thoughts ran wild, but was snapped back to reality when I heard that sentence. "You may now kiss your bride". I saw how JJ leaned in gently as they went for a passionate kiss while everyone else clapped and cheered as I did the same. I was happy for him, that he finally found someone that gives him happiness.

Maybe he and I were not destined to be together, perhaps we were better off as best friends...
