It was just supposed to be a school day like any other, until it wasn't. Truly a whittle of aganozation, upheld by the imprudent hope that pines us to the demolishing core.

At first the rampant idea of school closing down temporarily felt like any minor's dream come true- kid, tween or teen. In our ruthless minds, it perked like a titillating vacation, manifested by a regulating outbreak that'll soon demise, right? Wrong.

I was only 13 when covid took over. I spent the majority of quarantine unable to meet up with friends in person. Through out this vicious pandemic that coldheartly tumbled our people down one by one, like dominoes, it' d be a given that this pain would be forevermore.

You see, not all friendships managed to survive.

The past 2 years is one that has presaged the scrutinizing test of loyalty. I've loved and lost, life goes on. I'm not the only one.

March 13th, 2020 . . .

" Yo, Isabel! " A quelling voice from behind called out to me.

Knowing exactly who it is, I slyfully smirked and elatedly greeted back. " Hey Hazza! "

" Oh My God, stop calling me that! " He grinned.

" Well, it's not exactly easy being a Styler and having a friend named Harry. " I blithely pouted. " It's a fine line I willingly choose to cross. "

" I literally didn't understand any of that, excluding the 5 letters that spell my name. "He muttered.

" Fine Line, you know. His latest album he released back in December! " I precipitously rolled my eyes at his heralding knowledge of Harry Styles. It only lingers as a sign of the times, how oblivious he can be during certain situations like these.

" Have you literally never heard of his hit song 'Adore You'? They play it on the radio all the time."

Harry affiliated a look of avid concern and sighed in disbelief. " Oh, I'd go back to December all the time. Covid outbreak, you know . . . "

" Since when do you listen to Taylor Swift? "I inquired, befuddled by his unintentional Swiftie pun.

" Taylor who? "

" Oh, you've got to be kidding me-hee-hee. BY NOW YOU SHOULD- "

" Yeah, I was. " He furrowed his eyes in a flustered manner. " How can I not? You talk about her all the damn time! It gets annoying actually-"

" Damn right I do! I'm a devoted Swiftie! "

" Yeah yeah . . . " He murmured.

The warning bell to head to 5th period availed, as we both waved goodbye and headed to our classes. Harry had P.E. right now, while I was occupied with Science Class. Obviously, both are located in distinct, opposite directions, so we can't walk together like we typically do. What a shame . . .

Present Day . . .

Little did I- or anyone in that matter, know that those would be the final goodbyes maliciously blurted, never to be heard again until 2 years later. Yeah yeah and a proclamation of Swiftism. Those were our final goodbyes? Really? Not much a proper, vocal farewell if you ask me.
