"So, how'd you like Rango?" David asked through the camera.

"I loved it!" Lilith replied happily.

"Right?? Everything from the animation to the soundtrack to the voices to the characters-"

"Rango reminded me a bit of you, actually. His mannerisms, stuff like that."

"Ah! There's a concept that I like to call 'referential adaptation,'" David began. "It's kinda like 'act like you belong,' but on a smaller level- the how of it, in order to do so requires piecing together anything from your surroundings or happenings that you can relate to, and then use those relations to establish familiarity in order to, well, in Rango's case, survive," David effortlessly, albeit breathlessly, explained.

"Well, there's also the concept of belief that sparked some similarity for me," Lilith continued. "He acted like he was the hero, and people believed him. Then he believed he was the hero, and he became a hero."

David smiled. "Makes sense."

Lilith almost laughed. "You've seen this movie how many times and you never realized that?" she asked, more fascinated than mocking.

"I guess not," David thankfully laughed back, "I just...I guess the concept of me believing I'm a kind of hero feels a tad far-fetched, is all."

Lilith smiled, and it was the smile that made her look like she was practically glowing. "Well then, I believe you're a hero."

You're my hero.

David smiled back. "Thank you, Lilith, I...I hope I can believe it eventually, too."

I'll get there one day.
