Adopted by a strange man, I remember my youth living covered in oil and grease
Those days I spent cleaning up or running errands
Our chemistry sparked a light in our days that would never cease
Our bond over the years. I never questioned my parents

School came to a close when I chose work over college
I already knew the basics of life and was good enough at everything I did
Honestly, I was a prodigy in every knowledge
That also made me the light that no one forbid

Everything I wanted. Anything I needed
The town acknowledged me as their saving grace
As the light to whom they pleaded
I shone brighter and brighter inside my head seeing how people relied on me for serious problems. I gave my father no hints of disgrace

As days passed, I embarked on a story with my father
We got to the end by sacrificing so many things along the way
But we couldn't let those things be a bother
We couldn't let the price be too high to pay

On the final day, I was opposed by my greatest challenge
I gathered every light I sparked in the hearts and minds of the people and shone my hardest
I tried to overturn a mindless savage
I tried to reach a soul buried in heart's deepest

Ironically, I shone too hard. Too bright
I blinded him with emotions, care, and the love of a daughter
I became the fuel to kindle the fires of that night
The fires to isolate and prevent a two-person slaughter

My burnt body is no more
My life. Snuffed out by flames I knew so well
The metal in his body weighted more than the oath we swore
My spirit. A brighter light to outcast the flames of hell

If I were to resemble a lightbulb, my days would shine with the luminosity of my ideas
The opportunities get discovered by the light I have harnessed
No matter what the depth of the darkness I see is
Every day gets brighter and brighter until you blind yourself and life gets stuck at its darkest
