Manik was pacing, huffing like a bull. He gazed at the clock, quater to twelve. His fist tighten, he can heard his mother grasp but he didn't look at her. Obviously his mother sensed his anger, his anger now out of bounds. She has left office at five and she was still not home. It was late night, her phone was off. He heard someone enter the house and his eyes shifted to the door.
Nandini entered holding a lots of bags. Manik tow two long strides and reached her
"Where were you?" he asked greeting and Nandini who was happy with her shopping suddenly got scared with his tone and body language
"Manik..."
"No Maa" he cut of Neyonika, turning and glaring at her and then he turned back to Nandini with red angry eyes
"Where were you?" He asked again
"I had to go sh... shoping" she answered
"Did you inform me, inform Mom, or anyone? Where is you phone Nandini?" Manik asked before she even tell him anything else
"My phone..." Nandini tried to reach it out but it was difficult because of the bag she was holding on to. Before she can, the bags were snatched and thrown away. Nandini looked at him shocked. He reached her pocket and removed her phone
He pressed the power button yelling "It's off. The only way to connect to you is OFF" Manik smashed her phone on the floor and Nandini took a step back
"You have any idea what we have went through in this past hour!" he asked
"Manik I..."
"You have an explanation for this?! THIS! No explain, explain what is the reason you haven't call and inform anyone or your husband why you can't be late home on yoir time? Were you so lost, so lost that you can't even be responsible?" He asked
"Manik dhya nahi raha mujhe aur galti se reh gaya call karna..." She tried to explain
"Galti?" he huffed
"Galti Nandini! Do you know what we have gone through?!" he asked holding her arms harshly and tears formed in Nandini's eyes
"Manik" Neyonika called his name sternly
Manik turned to her and Nandini looked down hiding her tears
"Abhi aayi hai woh, let her freshen up, eat something and then talk" she added
"Talk?" Manik asked his mother in disbelief. He left Nandini with a jerk, gave her a disappointed look and left towards his study
Nandini stood there for sometime and then looked at Neyonika "Sorry Maa... I had no idea my phone was off..."
"Be careful next time Nandini. We were very scared" she said and went to her. She patted her head
"I went to shop, you are going to Pinku Masi ke bete ki shadi toh I thought to get the gifts you wanted" Nandini informed him and then started to pick up the bags Manik had tossed away.
"Nandini it's of beta" Neyonika said seeing her hands shaking and asked her to leave as she will ask the butlers to do it. She then asked Nandini to freshen up and have food as it was already late. Nandini nodded wiping her tears and left for their room.
Nandini paced helplessly as she waited for Manik. Manik entered still in his formals which he was wearing downstairs
"Manik. I am sorry. Mera dhyan nahi tha. I don't know how my phone died. I am..."
"What did I told you in Italy?" he asked turning to her and she went quite and looked confused
"I told you, whenever I call your phone shall ring, you pick up or you don't it shall ring" he said walking to her
