You Weren't The Only One

In the office

"Just what was going through your minds youngies?!" Mrs. Annik yelled in annoyance by our actions.

Benny and I just looked down knowing we were in the wrong. "You should know the rules by now. No boys in girls' bathrooms no girls in boys.' "

I nodded showing my understanding to her reasoning.  "I'm sorry but until you fix this you guys are suspended." I looked up in shock. I hadn't known I'd get in this much trouble.

"B-but miss."

"No buts. I'm calling your parents to inform them on this unacceptable behavior."

Benny and I sat there in the chairs of the office waiting for our parents to pick up the principals' calls.

"Hello?" I could here Mrs. Rodriquez on the other end of the phone answer.

"Mrs. Rodriquez?"
"Yes this is she."
"I would like to inform you about the suspension of your your son Benjamin Rodriquez."
"What? Why what happened?"
"He was found in the girls restroom with y/n, his classmate."
"...I'm so sorry. I'm so embarrassed."
"Could youcome remove him from the campus."
"Will do, I'll be there in 5."
*end of call*

I slid my hand over to bennys leg patting him in a "everything will be okay" matter.

"Hello?"
"Mrs. Y/l/n"
"Yes?"
"Your daughter y/n y/l/n needs to be removed from the campus. She has been suspended and will be able to return in a week."
"What? What did she do?"
"She was hanging out in the girls bathroom with a boy, breaking school policies. This is very inappropriate behavior for a young lady."
"I agree. I will come get her now, I am so sorry for her actions."
"Alright you have a good day"
"You too."
*end of call*

I removed my hand from bennys grip when the teacher layed eyes on us.

"Dating are you?"
"Technically-"
"No! Sorry.. *cough cough* we aren't, we're just really good friends that's all." I interrupted bennys response.
The principle slowly nodded in confusion.

"Good, because any physical contact between a girl and a boy is prohibited on campus."

I looked down beginning to play with my nails in awkwardness.
The wait in the principles office wasn't long but seemed it. As it had been awkwardly quiet the whole time.

"Your moms are here. You're dismissed." We nodded taking a look at each other before taking off through the doors.

We walked through the hallway and out into the hot sun. We both walked up to our moms, my mom was mad.
Mad out of embarrassment. The walk to the car was silent between us until we snapped in our seat belts and shit the door.

"What is your problem?"
I looked up knowing I was about to get scolded.

"The week had just gone by and you're going to cause problems? Why can't you be considerate of my feelings too?"

Benny looked at me knowing what she said must've hurt.

I broke...

"Considerate?! That's all I do mom! All I ever do is think about how much pain you're in, how not to make you sad! You aren't the only one!
I lost someone too that day mom! I lost my dad! You only get one and I lost him! But everyday I work around YOUR emotions to make YOUR life better. And I'm inconsiderate?"

"Sweetie-"
"No!" I quickly unbuckled swinging open the car door.

Bennys pov
I quickly was about to follow when my mom placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Leave it."

Slamming it shut I ran off down the street. My mom probably had been watching me run off the whole time before taking her own way home.

She knew where I was going too. I mean where else would I go?

I ran out into the open field of the sandlot. I sat on the floor crying in hurt and anger. She never thought about how I felt, as if she were the only one who had lost someone that day.

"Y/n?" I quickly looked up from the cradle position I put my self in to see DeNunez.

"DeNunez?" I asked confused as to why he was here alone.
"Still sad?" DeNunez asked taking a seat beside me.

"Yeah."
DeNunez nodded. "You know, I'm not good at this whole comforting thing but everything will be okay, okay?"

I nodded and DeNunez brought me into a hug.

A/n: Happy 4th guys! It's been a whole year since I've been writing this bookkkk. I'm so glad I was able to fall for Benny when I had the chance, he really makes my day better even if he's "not real":(
