Two days had already passed and still no change. Thought Zara as she loaded the trunk with her suitcase. Her mind replayed the events of that night more times than she could count, bute couldn't find a valid reason why he might have pushed her away that night. He's been closed up the once the incident.Refusing to even see much less talk about it. He chose to leave so early each morning before she woke up just to avoid her.
All her thoughts about his behaviour all seemed too plausible to be true.
'Did her breath stink? Did he not like the scent of her perfume? Did he consider her too little, too young? But there was always an answer to counteract whatever questions she raised regarding that night and what was more concerning was that he hadn't been home the entire day. Their supposed honeymoon had been postponed attributed to his not feeling well aka his disappearance.
It wasn't until last night that he had called, for her to be ready at 8:00am the next day and that a car would arrive to pick her up.
"Bye your highnesz"She was brought back from her reverie by Ophelia's enthusiastic voice, smiling widely and her hands up waving. Zara plastered on a fake smile, waved back and got into the passenger side of the limo.
"Drive safe"she heard her brother say before shutting the door. She nodded in agreement.
She hadn't spoken to her brother since their last  'talk'.the only exchange they've had  was the stiffled greeting in passing. they gave as curtesy to each other along with the rare occasions when they had to be in the same room with each other when their duties arose.
The limo reverberated into motion.
                                                   *    *    *    *    *
Sometime later, the car came to a stop in front of the Los Angeles Airport. She found Lorenzo standing in his full height, clad in a grey trench coat, black shades and his hair looked mussed like he'd run his hand through it a few times. She smiled
At the acknowledgment that he was all hers. Her husband. A proud smile made their way on her lips. Her smile faded as the memory of his rejection came replaying into her mind like a broken tape record.
'Please, let this honeymoon be worth it'she heaved a sigh.
Lorenzo waved as soon as he sighted her, she realized the breathed she didn't know she was holding. Approached him logging suitcase..
"What took you so long? "he said impatiently, glancing down at his gold rolled on his left  wrist .
She rolled her eyes.
"You just told me about this impromptu flight last night...around 8pm...and you didn't bother coming home the whole night. "she stated sarcastically.
He placed a hand on her lips to still her.
She pushed his hand away abruptly, he folded his hands into a fist at her blatant rejection. He scanned the expanse of the airport looking for something.
Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"what are you looking for? "she asked, her eyes questioning his.
He avoided her gaze as well as her question.
"Nothing. Let's just go"he answered stoically.
And just like that the conversation was over.
The flight took longer than expected. All through out the flight, Lorenzo barely said a word to her. He had them have different seats assigned to them. Much to Zara's annoyance. He had the seats in first class bought out.
Unable to bother about his rash behaviour at that time, she let out a tired sigh, she laid her head and closed her eyes to rest.
When she opened her eyes, they were already landing on the tarmac. Lorenzo was by he nudging her awake.
"The plane has landed. We need to get down"She rubbed the fatigue out of her eyes. She nodded in acknowledgement, yawned and followed him out.
The first thing she observed as soon as she stepped out of the plane. The early month's heat blasted her. She had to take off her coat. Lorenzo did the same as well.
                                                *  *  *  *  *
They checked into a private condo overlooking the beach. She stood in front of the floor to ceiling glass windows, admiring the blue sea
There were few people on the beach. Most of them parading around nude some with partners, some with children, who were busy playing with the sand. A smile crept up on to her lips at such an endearing sight. That was one thing she didn't like about her immortality, it was impossible to have children.
"is the place to your liking? "she heard Lorenzo ask from behind.she turned to look back up at him. He had on a wide smile on his face.
"Yes. Thank you."She turned towards the view, a wide smile plastered on her face.
"I love it very much "She said softly, he almost didn't hear her.
They went out for dinner that night.she had put a little too much effort into her appearance with the silk red dress that clung at all the right places which accentuated her curves just stopping mid thigh. Her makeup was light, with the bright red lipstick across her lips completing the lips. She said a silent thank you to Louis, who had given her the tips she needed.
She had her long hair curled and falling around her shoulders in defined waves. She took pleasure in the surprise and glinting gleam in Lorenzo's eyes as she walked into the room. She heard his sharp intake of breath.
"You look stunning.. "He trailed off.
"Thank you"she blushed.
He extended an arm which she gladly took by placing her hand around his elbow. They walked hand in hand to dinner.
The night was going great. Their conversation was light and sweet. The candle light burned with intention, theura of rekindled intimacy was evident. He had bought out the whole restaurant, so they were alone and isloated which worked best for her.
They induged in small talk and firtly banter.
She learned more about the relaxed Lorenzo than she had had with the grumpy part if him,the part she'd known since their marriage.
"You look beautiful "He said placing his hand in hers across the table.
She blushed looking down at their entwined hands. .she smiled, raising her gaze up at him. Then almost immediately, she looked back down and up at him again then downtown their clasped hands. She raised questioning eyes to husband in acknowledgement he slowly retracted his hands.
Clearing his throat,he picked up his glass of wine and took one large gulp. Then turned to face her.
"Please don't make a scene here"He warned.
Her mouth widened in outrage.
"what do you mean about creating a scene. There's no one here "she called his attention to the empty room. He inwardly cursed.
With resigned sigh, he picked up the napkin from his laps and wiped his lips.
"Okay, ask away. Am sure you have a million and one questions by now."He said dryly.
Ignoring his mock humour, she proceeded.
"why are you not wearing your wedding ring? "she asked.
"because it's bothersome "he replied hastingly.
"but you never had a problem with that before,so why now?she persisted.
"And I just said it was bothersome. It was a recent development "he punctuated each word through gritted teeth in annoyance.
"Don't you think people would find it weird that we're out on our honeymoon and you're not putting on your ring? "she choke out trying to bite down the tears.
"which people? "he gestured towards the empty room. Using her own words against her.
Realizing that she didn't have any comeback for that, she kept quiet reluctantly and they finished the rest of their meal in silence.
The light hearted ness they once had long forgotten.
After the meal they decided to take a walk. Since their hotel was two to three blocks from the restaurant.Zara requested they walk the rest of the trip instead of riding back in their chattered limo.she felt suffocated and needed a breath of fresh air.
They walked see by side in silence. She rubbed her shoulders for warmth. As a vampire,it was difficult for them to feel the coldness of the weather but she couldn't help but feel the chill that emanated from the brooding man beside her. She shivered as another wave of the cold air hit her.
Lorenzo, sensing her discomfort, took off his coat and placed it on her as she snuggled into it for warmth as she thank him reveling in his masculine scent.
"Do you want to go somewhere? "he asked. She frowned up at him in confusion.
"where? "she inquired.
"Just somewhere."he said mysteriously. A sly smile on his face.
She turned to face him. Hesitant at first she nodded and before she could blink, she was whisked away and standing in front of a building that had a flashing neon sign that read boldly
"Welcome to club pandemonium "
In bold flashing neon colors.
"what is this place? "she asked.
"it's a place my friend works at. Let's go round the back. "he ushered her around the building towards the dark alley. She saw from the corner of his eyes,He and on a wide grin on his face.
