Men!
Let the boys live.
Why must we distinct,
When we can co-exist.

Beneath that bellowing voice,
Thick beards,
Receding hairline,
Ripped frame,
Full pocket,
And grey hair
Is a boy,
Who wants to remain boy,
Rather than a societal android.

What are we doing?
Silencing them when they want to speak,
Numbing them when they need to feel,
Let the boys live!!

The boys are dying,
They are strangled, and buried
As the final rite of passage
For the adulting ritual,
Which in the end,
It is not worth it.

A/N
As a kid in my adolescence and early teens, there was a rigid way I saw Men. Especially considering the environment I grew up in, Men were the ones who had things on lock. Men were Perfect. Solid. Competent. Logical. Strong. Rich. Wise! Anything less was unacceptable.

However as I am now in my 20s, already being expected to live up to these things, I have realized in order to fully become a societal definition of a MAN, I have to totally disconnect with the little boy that I have known all my life.

I guess this poem is in exploration of that. Are we okay with this construct?. In the words of a Instagram Follower of mine,' "To be a man is to be not human".
