Chapter 7

"This your girlfriend runt?" Kenny ask wrapping his arm around Levi's shoulder. Levi gives an irritated facial expression. "Kenny...." He says through gritted teeth.

"I'm (y/n). Nice to finally meet you Mr. Ackermann." I say as I hold out my hand for him to shake. What have I gotten myself into? "Pleasure, and please just call me Kenny. This is my wife, Ruby." He smiles as he shakes my hand firmly. I smile towards his wife. She's about 2 or 3 inches taller than I am so she's not exactly short. She has long red hair and bright green eyes.

"Nice to meet you honey. It's nice to see my nephew actually went and got himself someone instead of being a stick in the mud." She says.

"Haha. Yeah. He was hell to talk to at first." I say.

"Well, if you two would like you could go sit in the living room while we cook. It shouldn't take us long." Levi says as he grabs my waist pulling me away to the kitchen.

I go to the sink and wash my hands before getting started. Levi does the same. "Well, they aren't as terrible as you say they were." I say breaking the silence.

"They've gotten better. Of course, he tries to play the nice guy every time I have guests." Levi says as he starts heating the skillet for the steaks.

I grab all the ingredients for the cake. "Well, regardless, I think he just mostly picks. Give him a chance for change, hun."

"Yeah." He sighs. He walk up to me placing a sweet kiss on my cheek. "I love you."

I give him a closed eye smile saying, "I love you too."

*Time skip to after the dinner gets cooked.

"This is great, Levi. You have always had a thing with cooking." Ruby says and she chews her steak.

"You're welcome, aunt Ruby." He says cutting his steak.

"So, (y/n). How did you meet the oh so lovable, Levi?" Kenny asks.

Levi rolls his eyes. I speak up, "Well, it all started at the welcome assembly for new students and new teachers. I sat next to Hange, my friend and his. At the time I didn't know them. I met Hange, Erwin, Levi, and Moblit. I got to know him a lot more since Hange took a liking to me pretty quickly. Levi talked at a few group get togethers. All that led up to us dating now."

I grab my wine glass swirling the red liquid around taking a short sniff. As I put the glass to my lips, Ruby speaks again. "Well, we would love to see you more at our small family functions. For the Ackermann side it's only Levi, Kenny, and Mikasa along with her parents. Mikasa brings Eren. Eren sometimes brings his parents or that Armin boy. They rarely bring their other friends. There's more family on my side that shows up."

I sip the bitter yet sweet liquid, "Hmm. I'll have to look into that. Did y'all have one coming up?"

Kenny clears his throat. "It's a family reunion deal. I don't really like to have them, but Ruby insists that we do."

I nod, and continue to eat my food.

Everyone finishes, and I gather the dishes. I rinse them off and put them into the dishwasher.

As I'm walking into the living room I overhear Levi and Ruby, "She's a nice girl, Levi. Please try to keep her. Also, you know your uncle loves you and means well. I don't understand why you have to be at each other's necks." She states.

"Well I'm glad you see (y/n) that way. For the Kenny thing. That's just how we've always been. I'll admit though, he has been getting better since he married you." He explains to the older woman.

I walk in, and Levi walks towards me putting his hand on the small of my back. "(Y/n) made dessert whenever you two are ready for some." He says.

Kenny walks into the living room from outside, "I'm up for dessert. Let's see if this young lady can cook a good dessert."
