"Mom! Dad! It's a fire, we need to get outta here!" Matts parents quickly took action scrambling to their feet and they all headed down the hall and out the front door out into the street.
The whole neighborhood was out handing the family waters and blankets watching the house begin to burn down. That's when suddenly Matt heard whining coming from inside the house.
"Bexy!" Matt ran in without taking a second to think of a better solution. The dispatcher who had just arrived to the incident parked as fast as he could.
Matt began panicking looking through the fire following the whining from his childhood dog Bexy. Finally he had found her. "Bexy!" Matt ran up to her grabbing Bexys collar as she was a golden retriever and far too heavy to carry. The pair had almost made it to the door where officers were waiting for their return. Suddenly a large plank snapped and began falling down about to hit them.
Matt quickly reacted by giving his last strength to push Bexy forward and out the door.
As there wouldn't be any time for the both of them to make it out. And sure enough, with no luck only Bexy made it out of the fire that night.
Back To Your POV
"Yeah, so I could use some space. And I think you could too." I leaned in giving DeNunez a long hug feeling a few tears drip from his face onto my shoulders.
I had never seen him cry before. I released from the hug taking a look at him before leaving. I wish I could be there for DeNunez like he was always there for me.
But I just couldn't. It hurt too much, I know he's strong enough to heal on his own. I know he is.
I built up the courage to continue walking, and enter my first class.
DeNunezs POV
The boys finally met my side with concerned faces. "What happened?" Ham asked confused. The boys leaned in waiting for a response. "Matt died." The boys grew silent and Benny sighed as if he knew it was coming.
The rest of the day had been quiet. We talked, sure. But our daily jokes were not in our favor at the moment.
Back to Your POV
Three classes later....
I was sitting alone in the bathroom stall with my lunch tray avoiding any social interactions. I sat, back against wall, tray on knees crying away the pain.
Knock knock.
I quickly looked up at the locked door in question. I wiped away me tears and sniffled placing my lunch tray on the floor. I got up and opened the stall door only to see Benny.
"Benny? What are you doing in the girls restroom-" I was suddenly pushed back into the stall against the wall.
I gasped in shock at the sudden movement. "B-Benny?" He leaned his face closer to mine. Our lips were only inches apart by now.
"Why do you run?" He pulled away giving me room to breathe. "I- I didn't know if last night happened." I looked down. "You weren't there this morning."
I felt his warm fingers pull my chin up to meet his gaze. Once again I was hit by his loving grey eyes. "Of course it happened. I left early because I didn't want your mom to think we did anything."
