Rowan stepped off of the bus, squinting at the sun. It may had been the middle of winter and absolutely freezing out, but that didn't stop the sun from shining, even if its rays didn't increase the temperature. She walked along the sidewalk, amazed by how gigantic the houses in the neighborhood were.

She opened her messages with Georgia, putting the address that the woman had sent her into the Maps app to make sure that she was in the right place. Snow crunched beneath her boots as her phone told her that she was approaching her destination. As she neared the end of the block, she tried to get a peek at the house but it was hidden by tall hedges that she couldn't see through because of how thick they were. She reached the end of the block, confused about how she was supposed to enter the house through the wall of hedges, but her confusion was thwarted when she rounded the corner to find a large black gate with a driveway made of carefully placed polished sandstone.

So the house was on a diagonal. Cool.

She looked at the address on her phone once again.

3821 N Kingsview Rd

She then looked at the address on the mailbox and the street signs that were hanging above her. Yep, she was in the right place. She opened her messages with Georgia, texting her and letting her know that she was outside.

R: I'm outside...do I have to wait for someone to come and unlock the gate?

A few moments later she got a reply.

Georgia: No. I left it open for you. Come on in.

Rowan stuffed her phone into her coat pocket, walking up to the steel gate. She pulled it gently, it opening with little force. After closing the gate behind her, she walked up the curving driveway. The view of the house was obstructed by large trees that were covered with snow, but after a few moments the house came into view and it was beautiful.

It was a Mediterranean-style mansion, the sandy color of the driveway matching the color of the house, the wall's edges being a lighter sandy shade that looked great with the way that the edges were designed. Large columns supported the red roof, stopping at the top of sleek, white marble stairs. The doors were black and made of glass that had intricate designs etched in them, creating a beautiful piece of art that you could admire as you walked up to the door. She scanned the yard as she walked toward the steps, a yard that she was sure looked amazing in the summer when the plants weren't hidden by the white of the cold snow. She spotted a marble fountain that was currently out of use.

This house, along with all of the other houses in the neighborhood had to be multi-million dollar properties, and if that was the case, Georgia was loaded.

Rowan brushed off her coat, suddenly self-conscious about showing up in joggers and a shirt, but there wasn't much that she could do about it now.

She walked up the steps, ringing the doorbell, trying to calm her nerves before Georgia opened the door. She didn't know why she was so nervous— perhaps finding out that Georgia was rich just pushed her even further out of her league, but she gulped down her nerves as she saw a shadow approaching the door through the frosted-glass windows.

"Hey, Georgia—"

She stopped her sentence short as she locked eyes with a man dressed in a navy blue suit. He had deep green eyes, brown hair, tan skin, a chiseled beard, and a slightly receding hairline.
