Chapter 9

Y/N's POV

SSG OFFICE

Jihyo started the meeting for the captain's ball first before assigning some tasks to the officers for each event in the sport's fest.

I just sat in the corner and read my book while Mina is quietly listening to them since she didn't bring anything to keep her busy.

"The sport's fest will be held here next week. I need your help to prepare for the events." Jihyo said and wrote something on her paper.

So this year's sport's fest will be held in our school?

"I'll also make excuse letters so that you guys can practice with your teams. Konkuk University and the other universities will be there so you must practice hard to win." Jihyo said with confidence that made them nod in unison.

"Okay. Go back to your rooms." She commanded.

"While the both of you, come over here." She added while gesturing her hand to come closer to her.

Dahyun and Jeongyeon made eye contact with me, mouthing a 'good luck' before leaving the office.

We went to the front and I sat on the seat which is facing Myoui, while Jihyo is in the center of the long meeting table.

"You two..." She said then looked at us simultaneously and took a deep breath.

"I saw the bulletin board earlier and I'd like to congratulate you for maintaining your ranks." She stated with a genuine smile before giving us a round of applause.

I sighed in relief, knowing that I was able to maintain my ranking.

I'm safe from my parents' scolding...

"Thank you," I told her gratefully and smiled a bit.

"Thank you, Jihyo. Congratulations too." Mina said while showing us her gummy smile.

I hate to admit this but I found it cute...

I shrugged it off and sighed deeply causing them to look at me confusedly.

"What?" I asked coldly.

"Nothing. I'm expecting that you two already know why you're here, right?" Jihyo asked and we nodded in response.

"The sport's fest will be held here in our school while the quiz bee will be held in... Konkuk University."

So if the quiz bee and the sport's fest will be held on the same day, then I won't be able to watch Dahyun and the others play.

"Everything that you've learned and will learn from senior high school, the questions that they will give you in the quiz bee will be based on some specific subjects. The both of you are excused for two whole days to review the topics since there's quite a lot." She said and gave the two of us some printed copies.

"Here are the subjects and topics that you'll need to review, so go to the library and find the books that you will need immediately." She added.

English Literature [3 topics]

Mathematics [2 topics]

History [3 topics]

Chemistry [3 topics]

Korean Literature [...]

Okay. It seems like we're going to have a brain-wrecking study.

"Um... Do you have questions?" Jihyo asked.

Mina raised her hand to signal her that she has a question.

"Is the sport's fest and the quiz bee will be held on the same day?" Mina asked.

"Unfortunately, yes. But don't worry, the schedule isn't revealed yet." She answered.

I hope our schedules won't overlap so that I can watch Dahyun and the others play.

"Are there any more questions?" She asked and waited for a few seconds but me and Mina stayed silent.

"Okay. Now, I want both of you to accompany me on delivering your excuse letters. After that, I want the both of you to proceed to the library immediately, arraseo?" Jihyo asked and we nodded.

We walked in the hallways as if Mina and I are soldiers and Jihyo is our commander since she's in the middle.

Our teachers signed the excuse letter that Jihyo gave them, confirming that they're alright with us not attending their class for two days.

Many students kept on whispering and looking at us while we're walking through the hallways.

They keep on whispering about how excellent we are for being able to maintain our ranks, how cute Myoui and I look when we're together, and that we're perfect for each other.

I shivered at the thought. I could feel the hairs on my neck slowly standing up.

No way...

Me and my Rival are a couple? Psh. This isn't a Wattpad book.

Finally, the last teacher signed the excuse letter.

"You can go to the library now. You can get your bag and other stuff in the SSG Office when it's time to go home." Jihyo informed.

"And Mina, can you wait here for a second? I'm just going to talk to Y/N."

Mina nodded and Jihyo quickly dragged me away from Mina's hearing range before letting go of my hand.

I leaned my back against the wall while waiting for her to speak.

"Bae Y/N, I don't know why you treat Mina like that, but please try to be nice and friendly..." Jihyo said.

She's practically begging me right now.

I looked at her with cold eyes.

"Just think that you're doing this for the school and that the two smartest students which is you and Mina are chosen to be our representative. Besides, it's our last year before we go to college." She added and held the both of my hands softly, looking at me with pleading eyes.

"Do you want to waste this opportunity to get to know her? She's probably not that bad, just give her a chance." She whispered.

I closed my eyes before sighing.

"Fine, but the answer to your last question is no."

A smile slowly found its way to her lips.

"But–" I cut her off.

"I'll try my best to not get mad at her, is that good enough for you?" I said.

She happily nodded like a child.

"Alright, fine. Now, hurry up and go to the library with her!" Jihyo exclaimed and pushed me before running to the opposite direction.

Did she just push me?

I put my hands on my pockets and sighed.

I need to deal with it. For the school and for Jihyo. I'll try my best to be nice to her.

I was walking towards the area we were previously in when I saw her standing while looking down and tapping her floor using her shoe.

I cleared my throat to gain her attention.

"Let's go," I said plainly and started to walk.

I could feel her presence behind me while we both walked towards the library.

Great. What a wonderful day...
