Chapter 25: Reberto

Start from the beginning

Simple shit just to bring a man in, I'm doing all the hard work. "We'll find him," Alessandro says, stirring his cup full of hard liquor. He's not the one stressing over it. I'm trying to make sure my son and his sister don't have to live in fear. "Even when we do find him I'm not sleeping until his body is disintegrated." I spit out looking over paperwork.

A knock on the door interprets the ongoing conversation slowly coming in. "So sorry to disturb you but your son is waiting for you in your office" The guard comes in her voice evident with fear trying not to look me in my eyes.

I walk past her leaving everyone in the meeting room going to see Santo. He lays on the couch half of his body hanging off. Sitting on the coffee table in front of him I rub his arm as he jumps up. "Long day?" I ask him with a soft tone. "Yeah teachers gave me all the work I missed the time I was suspended but Rory helped me with a lot of it" He lays his head back down as Lucky walks in sitting in an empty chair.

"Hmmm that's good at least she helped you" He tiredly smiles trying to keep his eyes open. "Yeah she's pretty awesome" Lucky grabs my hand pulling me into the bathroom, closing the door making sure to lock it before he pulls me into a tight hug.

"Bambina we'll find him don't worry" He leaves kisses on my temple letting me feel safe in his arms. I know we'll find him but it's taking to fucking long. I close my eyes, inhaling his natural scent bringing me to a more calm state.

I wonder if anyone cleaned up the glass I threw?

"Go take Santo home or get something to eat on the way I'll finish whatever else you have here" I want to argue with him but I choose not to and just listen for once.

Brining a sleepy 16 year old into the car is not as easy as it looks like in the movies. It's for no reason at all because now he's fully awake and full of energy. "Mom were getting food right?" He plays with the bluetooth switching it on and off.

"Yes, Santo we are getting food. It's only been 15 minutes and we're almost there" I tell him as I see a black car follow behind us at full speed. I speed up a bit to lose them but they follow us at a faster one. Santo notices as he starts to hyperventilate.

I can't let anything happen to him. I promised him I wouldn't and I'm going to keep that promise. "Santo I need you to listen to me, they haven't seen you yet. The passenger side is their blind spot. Hide in the back, call your father, they won't see you don't move from there until he comes and gets you" His face full of worry as he shakes his head.

"Mom I can't let them get you no" he tries to fight back as they come closer. "Santo now is not the time to argue with me. Please just do it, they'll find me. I need you to be safe" I beg him as the tears stream down his face.

He finally complied going to the back of the car laying flat on the floor throwing the covering on him. They shoot the back tires making the car spin as I break.

Two men come out of the car following us looking at me. Throwing me out of the rough floor scrapes my arms and hands as they put a white cloth over my face making me welcome the darkness.

Lucky's pov

My phone goes off mid conversation looking at the caller id it's Santo. "Dad dad dad" he whispers, clearly upset and scared.

"Santo what happened?" I put the phone on speaker as everyone went silent hearing him cry on the other line. "Dad I don't know but-"

"Breath Santo breath"

"Dad, they took her" He cries out as I feel my fist clench. No one says a word as Santo cries on the line. "I have his location" Agosto tracked his phone showing he's only 20 minuets away from here.
