"Woah, congrats, Y/n!" the boy said as he pulled his friend into a hug. "This means you can drive me to my shifts now, right?" the boy said jokingly and waggled his eyebrows at Y/n. The girl only looked at him and laughed.
"I know you're kidding, but I'd be down." She smiled happily. "And I also wanted to ask if you wanted to go to the movies on Friday? Eren's really milking his freedom now that his mom finally ungrounded him," Y/n chuckled. "He said he wanted me to drive us all somewhere, so I chose the movies."
Armin perked up at the invitation and nodded his head.
"Sure, who's going?"
"Eren, Mikasa, Marco, Jean," Y/n named off on her finger tips and Armin's face fell immediately. "It'll be a tight fit, but we can all cram into one car. Maybe Eren can sit on Jean's lap," Y/n suggested while laughing and Armin didn't say anything.
His lips pursed slightly as he looked down towards the sidewalk, breathing in deeply.
Well, fuck.
The boy felt a nudge on his shoulder and he looked up to see Y/n looking at him worriedly.
"You ok, blondie?"
Armin blinked up at the girl and bit the inside of his cheek before nodding his head gradually, shaking off his previous thoughts.
"Yeah, it's just that I, um...I completely forgot that I have an essay that I need to work on for Economics," he lied through his teeth and he couldn't bring himself to look at the girl. "Sorry, Y/n. I don't think I can go."
"Oh," his friend said dejectedly as her eyes drooped down to the sidewalk. "It's ok, Min. Maybe some other time," she said as she mustered up the strength to give her friend a small smile.
All Armin could think of when he got home was about how sad Y/n had looked, but he knew it was for the best. He didn't want to find any trouble with Jean.
He laid down on his bed and stared blankly up at the ceiling.
He wanted to doze off and forget about the whole thing for a moment, but he couldn't, because he heard Hitch's ringtone sound out as clear as day.
The blonde answered the phone, and Hitch spoke.
"What's up, bitch."
Armin sighed.
"Hitch, that's rude."
"Bitch, you're about to be rude if you don't bring your ass to the mall on Friday."
"Huh? You want to go to the mall?" Armin questioned.
"Yup!" The girl said cheerfully. "Marlowe's coming and low key, I don't wanna be alone with him. My heart beats like crazy when I'm next to him, and before you say it, I swear it's not because of my stupid crush."
Armin grinned.
"It's because of your stupid crush."
"Bitch, I'll kill you." Hitch said untruthfully and Armin laughed. The girl huffed and continued.
"Anyways, just come with us, pleeease? He wants to go see some scary movie afterwards, and I swear, if you don't come, I'll probably make a fool out of myself," she groaned woefully. "Armin, why am I acting like this? It's just Marlowe."
"Who you finally realized you have a crush on."
"Yeah, but I get boy crushes all the time! Once upon a time, I had a crush on you--"
"Alright, let's not bring the past into this," he quickly said before declining the girl's invitation. "But, I'm sorry Hitch. I can't go. I already said no to Y/n on going to the movies that day, and it wouldn't feel right if I went with you," he confessed.
