"Where's Taehyung?"
I was startled. It was Taehyung's mom that spoke. I was still watching TV. I was waiting for Taehyung to come back home but its already been an hour since he left.
"Um, he went to fetch Chaeyoung, ma'am." I answered, not dared to look at her but at the door.
An awkward silence enveloped us. Only the sound of the TV can be heard. She suddenly sit at the sole leather chair, while I was occupying the bigger one facing the TV.
"What's your relationship with Taehyung?" I instantly looked at her. "If he didn't tell you, I'm his mother, Kim Minyeon."
I turned off the TV and turned to face her.
"I'm Kim Jisoo, ma'am," I gave her a small smile and bowed out of respect. "I'm so sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I just wanted to give you and Taehyung some alone time to talk."
Her gaze was still unbothered. Her brown eyes was hard and flat. I unconsciously gulped.
"And as much as I want to tell you about our relationship, I think it would be best for Taehyung to say it," I look at her again. "I hope you don't mind."
She was still staring at me. Seconds after, her eyes widen and stood up. I panicked and stood up with her.
"You're a dragon!" She yelled. She covered her mouth in disbelief.
I blinked a couple of times. Why is her reaction like that? I mean her children are half-dragons that means her partner must have been a dragon, right? Why does she look so shock?
She then frowns. "I hate dragons!" She yelled.
I was taken aback. I opened my mouth to respond but suddenly the ground started shaking.
A low, dark pulse of music infiltrated my head. For a second, I didn't quite understand the noise. The swelling music.
"What is happening?!" She yelled.
The ground starts shaking again. She was about to stumble but I grabbed her arms and pulled her close.
The living room exploded, revealing a dragon just right outside.
Dragon fire roared around us. I immediately covered Taehyung's mom. Flakes of the ceiling drifted down right with the blow, bigger debris hit my back. I groaned in pain.
She looked at me. "You-"
I hissed in pain, I can feel my back getting wet from my blood. "We don't have much time, ma'am. Let's go."
I dragged her and shoved through the doorway. My heart was pounding out of my chest.
I heard her scream when the dragon tried to blow fire again. I know how horrified she must have been at this situation right now.
Fire could kill her.
I pushed her inside and slammed the door. Not that it could help but what else can I do. I saw how it was eaten by the flames. The dragon's dark chorus rose in triumph.
I wanted nothing more than to make Taehyung's mom not hate me for being a dragon. But much more that, it was my kind that is wreaking havoc right now. I need to do something.
Anger tore through my fear as I met the dragon's gaze. I would kill that fucking dragon myself but fighting while protecting someone is too much to handle for me.
I barely even control my dragon powers.
I glance at her again. What could I do?
"Your fire will protect you."
