Chapter 23
I pulled up in front of Mirabell’s house, and walked up to the front door. Ary said there was a spare key somewhere, right?
I flipped the mat over and found it.
I turned the key in the lock and walked in.
Nothing.
I was hoping that seeing this house again would make me remember something. That it would at least seem familiar.
I sighed, and walked upstairs, looking for Mirabell’s room.
I found one that looked like it could be her room. I sat on the edge of her bed, and saw a book, torn up on the floor. I picked it up, and gasped.
It was a photo album of pictures. Not just any pictures, but pictures of Mirabell and I.
There was one of us in diapers, sitting in front of a dog that was three times our size.
Another was Mirabell’s seventh birthday, and I had icing all over my face.
I smiled when I saw the last one.
Mirabell’s eighteenth birthday.
She was in mid-air, jumping from the couch to hug me, where I was on the floor.
Why was she doing that?
Oh yeah, because I got her the picture album.
This picture album?
I turned it over to see the cover.
I remember.
