Special Chapter [ Meredith ]

My phone keeps ringing on my bedside table, but I ignore it. I know I'm a bit late, well, it can't be helped. Kailangan kong tapusin ang trabaho ko. My responsibility first, spoiling myself later. It's always like that. Ganito naman na palagi simula noong nawala siya.

I sigh as I finished buttoning my blouse.

And I rolled my eyes as the sounds of my ringtone keeps on playing. Kanina pa ang taong 'yan, pakiramdam ko ay sasabog na ang ugat ko sa aking noo sa sobrang gigil sa kaniya.

I just texted him that I'm already on my way! Yes, it's a lie, pero dapat naniwala nalang siya! Hindi ba ganoon naman talaga? I stomp my feet all the way to my phone, and finally put an end on the irritating sound of it. I'll change this damn ringtone later.

“Fucking stop it! Will you?” I almost yelled through gritted teeth. Naghintay ako sa susunod na magsasalita, pero halos lumipas ang isang minuto, hagikgik lamang ng inosenteng bata ang aking narinig. And scoffing of a little girl on the other side.

“That's meanie, Ninang Meredith!” a voice from a little boy.

“I told you, she's a witch. She will curse us right now, and exactly on our fifth birthday.” I gritted my teeth more after hearing it from a voice of a little—I'm not really sure if she is a little girl, she talks like a trash talker adult!

I brush my hair with my other hand. Taking my bag with me as I go out of my condo. “So why are you calling Ocean? Why is your bastard of a father's phone with you?” I asked as I get inside my car.

This time, I am truly on my way now to their house. The reception of the twin's fifth birthday is set in there. If you are still confuse of what's going on. First, the twin I'm talking about are both Kianna and Blu's offsprings. Malakas yata ang dugo nila sa pagkakaroon ng kambal.

I set my phone on the phone handle and set it on a loud speaker, before starting to drive.

“Ninang, I'm waiting for you, the party already started. Where are you? I miss you!” I rolled my eyes after hearing that, but in the end, I failed to stop myself from smiling.

“No need to worry, I will be there in five minutes.” I said.

“Oh! I thought you're not coming. Okay Ninang! I will wait for you! I love—”

Bago pa matapos ni Ocean ang kaniyang salita ay may humablot ng cellphone mula sa kaniya. I know, I can tell. And there's one person in my mind already who did that.

“Yo, Witch. I am here to report to the police that you're harassing my son—ouch!”

“Itigil mo na 'yan, Blu. Mamaya niyan hindi pa dumating si Red!” hindi ko na mabilang kung hanggang ilan na ang nagagawang pag-rolyo ng aking mga mata sa pamilyang ito. And this girl, still so paranoid. I am not the sensitive!

Ilang bangayan pa ang narinig ko, pero wala nang kumausap sa akin. At pamaya-maya lang ay namatay na nga ang tawag.

At habang mapayapa akong nagmamaneho, nahagip ng aking mga mata ang pamilyar na gate ng sementeryo. I don't want to be late than ever, pero late naman na ako. It won't hurt them if I got late for just an hour, right? Tatapusin ko na ang ilang minuto sa isang oras na mayroon ako, bago pumunta sa party.

I just want to be with him for awhile.

Pinagbigyan ko ang sarili at inihinto ang sasakyan sa labas ng gate. Sandali lang ako, ku-kumusta lang. Bumaba na ako sa sasakyan at kaagad na nagtungo sa puwesto kung saan unang nangyari ang lahat.
