Exams were coming up once again, but this time you weren't distracted by relationship problems.
It was a sunny Tuesday and you and Mikasa were at the library, studying for the only exam you had to take. Mikasa had another one, but your three other classes where all technical and didn't require a final exam.
The two of you were leaning over a textbook and making pretty notes and flashcards, quizzing each other and rewarding right answers with kisses.
The two of you had spent a couple hour studying, and decided to head home for the evening around 4:30 pm. Packing up your things, you two head out of the library, letting the big heavy doors close behind you. It was a warm evening and you two walked for several
blocks, before splitting up and going your separate ways.
From this end of town, you had to cut through the woods to make your way home. You walked in between the trees on the worn walking path alone, headphones in. You hear punting footsteps on the gravel behind you and you whip around, only to be met by Annie running towards you.
You stop, unsure if you should meet her. Things had obviously ended very awkwardly between the two of you and you hadn't spoken since January. Now, to see her quickly making her way towards you, you wondered what she could want.
She slides to a stop in front of you and takes a minute to catch her breath. She's dressed casually: black Jean shorts, a band tee, and high top converse.
"Y/n" she breathes out, still breathless from the run.
"Hey Annie" you say awkwardly scratching the back of your neck.
"Look I need to talk to you" she starts, looking at you with intensity. You are unsure about what she wants, but you decide to give her the opportunity to talk. The years you two spent in happiness as kids made you owe her at least that.
"Look, I'm going away to university soon and I have to apologize. I fucked up pushing myself onto you like that. I'm sorry. But I really like you y/n. I have since we were children."
Her voice sounded like it was desperate, and you saw the raw passion and longing in her eyes just like you had that day in January. She leans forwards, and places both of her hands on your shoulders.
"I have only ever liked you. Please tell me of I have any chance with you in this lifetime"
You felt bad for Annie; she was sweet and treated you well throughout your life, but there was only one woman for you and she was on her way home right now. You could do nothing as Annie's startling blue eyes kept you in a trance, her emotions displayed so openly on her face.
"A-Annie I already told you-"
It was awkward, really, but Annie wouldn't let you out of her metaphysical grip. Until someone interrupted you.
"Excuse me!"
Mikasa's POV
Mikasa was on her way home, happy after spending the afternoon with her wonderful girlfriend.
Wait, are my bat pens in my bag??
Mikasa fished through her messenger bag, making sure she'd favourite pens hadn't been forgotten at the library. Assuring her utensils were there, she was about to close her bag before she noticed that your earbuds had accidentally been left in her bag.
I better return these she thought as she turns back around and headed towards the woods. She briskly walked through the trees, hoping to catch up to her girlfriend, when she saw down the bath a familiar figure, as well as someone she REALLY wasn't fond of.
Annie Leonhart, with her hands on y/n's shoulders. Too close.
With a frown on her face, Mikasa straightened her spine and walked over to the two girls.
"Excuse me!" She said sternly, which makes Annie whip around and snap her hands away from y/n's shoulders.
Your POV
Not again you though to yourself as Mikasa walks in once again on Annie getting too close to you. You just prayed she wouldn't misunderstand it this time.
Annie's head swivels between the two of you, before landing her gaze back on you.
"I'm sorry Annie" you say in a finalizing tone, eyes basically dismissing her.
You can see she's hurt, but she just turns her head away and leaves. You look to Mikasa, trying to gouge her reaction.
"Are you okay?" She finally asks you. Your heart swells with warmth.
"I am yeah. Annie wanted to talk to me again. Same as always" you say, shifting closer to Mikasa.
Suddenly Mikasa pulls you in by the sleeve and kisses you hard, eyebrows scrunched in an adorable way.
She pulls away and glances towards the distant figure of Annie Leonhart.
"You're mine y/n, don't forget that" she says with a coldness in her voice.
"I won't" you say as you smile, and nuzzle your nose into the side of her face, placing small kisses on her smooth skin. This makes her giggle and she takes your hand, walking with you to your house.
Everything is good.
