This piece is set in the year 2008. I really love emo, goth, and scene youth subcultures of the 2000's, and this fic is a direct reflection of that. THIS IS NOT MODERN ALT OR GOTHIC FASHION OR CULTURE!!!! This is that good 2000's emo and scene culture, so sorry if you were expecting 2021 tik tok alt themes and imagery.
I'm setting this story in the country I live in (Canada) because gay marriage had been legalised by this point, and even though being LGBTQ2S+ was not totally widely accepted, it was tolerated much more than the USA. Also, the age of consent in Canada is 16, and though there will be some mild NSFW, I am keeping it as soft and vague as possible. (I don't want my story taken down lol) For this sake however, I made the reader female, but if you wish to read something more pronoun inclusive, I have a oneshot book where I only use they/them for y/n. I hope this is okay.
