Chapter Thirty Six

Start from the beginning

Goodbye, I know it's tragic

The memory of us will go up in ashes

Chase points to me as I come in starting to sing softly.

I put my black lipstick on your neck

Dug my black nails into your chest

Now I got these scars that you left

Now you're dead to me, and it's R.I.P

Here lies all of the lies

And all of the pain that I buried inside (Oh, oh)

Goodbye, I know it's tragic

The memory of us will go up in ashes

"Do you have a chorus yet?" I ask and Chase shakes his head no.

"Not yet. I'll find it someday", Chase shrugs.

"I think it's good", I say smiling.

"well, thank you. I've written a lot", he says flipping through tons of pages.

"Mind if I-?" I start to say, looking at his book as he nods.

The first song I see is a song called 'half the world away'

If you were a good friend

You'd always be there when I need it

'Cause I'm on my knees and babe I'm bleeding

And it kills me that you're not around

So you're not my girlfriend

Don't pretend that makes us nothing

Tell me you don't miss this feeling

I'm starting to see who you are

Cause there's a time, there's a place

And I'm always gonna hear your name

There's a right, there's a wrong

And now I see that all along

I messed up, you'll be fine

I'm going to sleep alone tonight

Never gonna be the same, 'cause you're half the world away

"I like this one. Who's it about?"

"Nessa. I wrote it when I knew I was in love with her", he says softly.

"Oh", I say lightly as he nods.

I continue to read more and more, feeling heartbroken for him.

There was another one that stood out. It was called 'Don't let me go'

Now you were standing there, right in front of me

I hold on it's getting harder to breath

All of a sudden these lights are blinding me

I never noticed how bright they would be

I saw in the corner there is a photograph

No doubt in my mind it's a picture of you

It lies there alone in it's bed  of broken glass

this bed was never made for two

I'll keep my eyes wide open

I'll keep my arms wide open

Don't let me
