The girl sprinted across the school's second floor and down the stairs, paying no mind to the band geeks and glee clubbers that she was bumping into.
Marlowe stood planted in the same spot, bringing a hand up to touch his lips where seconds ago, Hitch's polished finger had rested. It had smelled of vanilla and some other sweet scent that he could only attribute as being a product of Hitch's perfume that she normally sprayed on herself (and all over Marlowe sometimes) during class.
The boy sighed as he waited patiently for the girl's return, taking in the lingering, flowery fragrance that tickled his nose.
"That's the last time I'm letting her borrow my stuff," he said untruthfully.
After running for 20 seconds, Hitch gave up and simply walked. She decided to just let Marlowe wait however long it took her.
To her surprise, the door was already propped open and ready for her arrival. She smiled to herself in relief and walked in, only to see Armin holding the pink eraser in his hand and questioning who it belonged to.
"That would be the nickname I gave Marlowe," Hitch answered and Armin jolted at the sound of her voice.
The blonde turned towards her and the girl took the eraser from his hand, giving him a lopsided smile.
"Thanks for finding it for me, Erwin."
"Er...you're welcome. And it's actually Armi-"
"Woah, glitter glue!" The girl got distracted from the matter at hand and fixated on the shiny tubes of glitter glue on the desk that Armin was working at. She grabbed one of the tubes and squeezed out a rich shade of sparkling magenta, rubbing the substance between her fingers.
"Whatcha working on?" She continued to squeeze multiple other tubes, pressing them onto a stray sheet of green cardstock paper.
"Ms. Ral asked Y/n and I to make a poster on verb endings for fourth period since they're not quite understanding the lesson."
"Y/n? Who's- Oh, you mean Becky! Aww, how cute." She grinned at Armin with her signature fox eyes as she moved to lean against a desk behind her, stuffing the eraser in the back pocket of her jeans. "You're working with your girlfriend."
Armin's blood ran cold upon hearing the blunt remark. He knew that Hitch Dreyse was a notorious gossip, and if she were to find out about the blonde's crush on Y/n, she would most likely let it slip. And Armin was not about to let that happen.
"I'm not dating her! I don't even like her, that'd be weird!" He chuckled nervously. He gulped and looked away from Hitch towards the poster, slamming down the glitter glue tube hastily onto the blank surface and smearing it all over the unedited title.
She raised a brow at him skeptically.
"Really?"
Armin profusely nodded his head at her.
"Yeah. I would never willingly date her."
Hitch seemed disappointed with the blonde's answer.
"Hm...I would have expected you two nerds to date since you're all buddy-buddy."
"I guess," he said in the most disinterested voice he could fake. "I'm not even that close to her."
Hitch looked down in thought, unpacking the conversation. She shrugged and stood up straight, sighing as if she had received the worst news.
"Well, I'll see you in class tomorrow, Erwin."
Hitch grinned at the boy and hurried out of the room, making a beeline towards where Marlowe was.
