"Yes. I read it after Hange called you up to the whiteboard and had you write down the chapter eight definitions."
"Wow, that's very unscholarly of you. Reading a note in class instead of paying attention."
Y/n tried her best to tease Armin, but she hated the way her voice still wavered as she hid the side of her face with her hand.
The blonde laughed at the girl and closed the gap between them, playfully bumping Y/n's shoulder with his own. With an awkward smile, Y/n looked down to the ground and smoothed a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"It was worth it," he said to her with a light blush on his face. He looked up shyly to his friend, and Y/n felt herself get impossibly warmer.
"Well, yours was incredibly sappy, too."
Armin smiled nervously. His blue eyes strayed from Y/n to instead look ahead at the approaching classroom.
"But it was sweet," Y/n added shortly afterwards. "Thank you, Min."
She took a second to admire Armin and his lovely face and made a note to boop his cute, red-tinged nose as many times as he would let her.
The two stepped into the cold room of the German class and saw Ms. Ral at her desk in the corner, typing away in a rushed manner at her computer while Mr. Ackerman observed her a few feet away, as if he were waiting on her.
The man moved his blank expression over to the two students and cleared his throat to get Ms. Ral's attention.
The red-head turned her head from her monitor and looked at Levi.
"Hm?" She turned and saw Armin and Y/n standing by the doorway. "Oh!"
The woman got up from her desk and greeted the two.
"Hey, guys! Mr. Ackerman and I are going to go grab the textbooks. It's gonna take us a while since the boxes are heavy and there's a bunch of 'em, but I'll give you guys the supplies to make the poster."
Ms. Ral walked briskly towards the closet at the back of the room and unlocked it, revealing a myriad of leftover arts and crafts supplies from her past projects. She pulled out a large piece of white construction paper, various sheets of thick, colorful cardstock, along with scissors, markers, and even glitter glue. She set the supplies down on Y/n and Armin's desks, and before leaving the room, she told them to behave themselves while she was out.
"No funny business," Mr. Ackerman had warned before the two teachers left towards the main offices.
The two teens were left to their own devices, embracing the stiff quietness of the normally lively room. There was something nerve wracking to the both of them about spending time together in an empty classroom. In their minds, anything could happen.
Or even be said.
They were both quick to shrug off the thought as they planned out the poster's content on a separate sheet of scratch paper.
"Does this look ok?" Armin asked as he pointed down to the paper with his pencil. Y/n scanned the outline and nodded in approval.
"Yeah, looks great. Now let's transfer it over to the poster."
Y/n tugged on the large white sheet and brought it out from underneath all of their supplies. She cleared one of the desks and laid the paper flat against it. She looked at the pure blankness and already began to feel overwhelmed.
Ok. So, how are we gonna do this?" She mumbled into her hand and thought to herself, working out the details in her head. She was almost able to construct a complete thought when her stomach growled.
