Chapter 5

6 years later

Karmen's P.O.V

"Micah, baby, it's time to go!" I woke up late today and now Micah is taking forever. I pause before yelling again "Micah, we're already late!" Finally I decide to head upstairs to see what's taking her so long.

A few months after finding out I was pregnant, I moved into a beautiful two bedroom townhouse.

"Micah?" I say pushing her bedroom door open, I'm then met with a very worried little girl. "Momma, I can't find Ruffles!" Ruffles was this little stuffed cow I got her a few weeks after she was born, and let me tell you, she hasn't let that thing go since I gave it to her.

"It's okay sweet girl, let's take a deep breath." She gave me an unimpressed look. For a five year old she's a smart little thing. "Mommy. I don't have time for deep breaths. Ruffles has been cow napped!" I coughed to hide my laughter. "Okay, where was the last place you had him?" She stared at me for a second thinking before I could see the light bulb go on in her head.

"He was on the sink when I took my bath this morning!" And with that she quickly made her way into the bathroom before I heard a squeal of happiness. "Oh my god Ruffles, I missed you so much please don't ever leave me again." I may be biased but she is the cutest thing ever. I'm literally so happy to have her in my life, I don't know what I would do without her. "Okay munchkin it's time to go, I have to drop you at aunt Cami's before work." She put on her little white sandals I bought her last month and grabbed a hold of my hand before pulling me out the door. "Come on, Momma you're gonna be late. Ms. Katie doesn't like when you're late." Ms. Katie is my boss at the dinner. She absolutely adores Micah. She has always been so understanding with Me and hers situation. She's this little old lady, who over the years has become kinda like a grandmother to me and Micah.

After dropping Micah off at Cami's house. I had a short walk to the diner for my shift. When I walked in Ms. Katie gave me a worried look before pulling me into a hug. "Oh darling where have you been? You're almost an hour late. I was worried about you!" "I'm sorry.. I woke up late and then Micah couldn't find Ruffles. I promise it won't happen again" I said whole heartedly. I always felt bad when I was even a few minutes late let alone a whole hour. "Don't worry about it dear, I'm just happy you're alright. Now get your apron on, Table 5 is waiting to get their order taken."

It was towards the end of my shift and the diner was empty. I turned around and wiped off the table behind me when I heard the bell on the door chime. I turn around to see my beautiful baby girl, in Cami's arms completely asleep. "Hi babes, how was work?" She said, speaking in a whisper as to not wake the sleeping child in her arms. "It was good, I hope she wasn't too much trouble" Micah wasn't a bad child but sometimes she can be a lot to handle. I don't make too much extra money but she is definitely spoiled when it comes to attention. Ever since she was born I've felt bad that she wasn't able to have her dad in her life, so I tend to give her the attention she craves to try to make up for it. "Of course not, you know she's a little angel."

It was time for me to clock out so I took Micah out of Camilla's arms before I headed out. Ms. Katie had already left so I locked up the diner before heading home.

When I make it home I quickly unlock the door and head inside. I put my keys on the table before going upstairs into Micahs room and laying her down in the bed. "Goodnight baby, I love you." I say before kissing her forehead and leaving her room.

I then head into my own room and right when my head hits the pillow I'm out like a light.
