Chapter 56: His Anger

Third Person's POV

NAGSUSUKAT silang dalawa ng tingin. Hindi makasagot ang Empress sa tinuran ng binata. Namamawis ang palad nitong nakapatong sa kaniyang kandungan, bumabagal din ang pintig ng puso niya.

Killian noticed her pale complexion. He chuckled before letting go of the sword. Umalingawngaw sa silid ang tunog ng kalansing nito noong bumagsak ito sa sahig.

"Rest assured, I am not into committing stuff publicly." He stood up then bowed his head.

"May I take my leave then?" he continued. Inangat niya ang paningin para salubungin ito ng mata sa mata.

"Y-you may," utal na sagot ng Empress.

He straightens his back. "I hope the Empress won't take my words lightly," he said while repairing the wrinkles on his suit.

Nanatiling tahimik ang babae hanggang sa lisanin ng binata ang silid. She heavily sighed and lean herself on the back of her chair.

"Empress Ivory, I deserve to be punished for being a failure as your appointed knight." Lumuhod ang knight sa gilid ng Empress habang nakapatong sa palad nito ang pagmamay-ari na sandata.

"It's unnecessary," she said. Inangat niya ang kaniyang kamay upang magpaalalay dito sa pagtayo.

"I pledge that this won't occur again in the future. Thank you for your pardon, Empress Ivory." The knight put his sword inside its sheath. He reached the Empress' hand to assist her.

"We must return forthwith to the palace. I need to talk to my Emperor," she said.

Umuna ng paglalakad ang Empress, sumunod naman sa likuran niya ang knight.

"I am glad you're safe," he said, then hugs her tightly.

Marahang tinulak palayo ni Sophia ang Prinsipe. Humakbang siya paatras saka yumuko sa harap nito.

"I greet the future sun of Asterin Empire, His Highness the Crown Prince, Lawrence William," she said.

"There is no need for you to be this formal, Elizabeth." Malungkot niyang pinagmasdan ang dalaga.

Sinalubong ni Sophia ng malamig na tingin ang Prinsipe. "Sana ay hindi mo mamasamain ang sasabihin ko, Your Highness."

He stared at her and remained silent from his position.

"...I am not your dead ex-fiance. I might resemble Elizabeth but unfortunately, I am a different person," she continued.

The bewildered look on his face is visible. "What does that mean?"

"Let me introduce myself properly to Your Highness." Itinapat niya ang palad sa kaliwang dibdib. "...I am Sophia D. Ark, a lady who came from the southeastern continent."

"I see … your name is Sophia," he mumbled.

"Hm?" Nagtaka ang dalaga sa tono ng pananalita nito na walang bakas ng pagtataka at pagkalito.

Lawrence caressed her cheek then touched her chin to meet their gaze. He brought himself closer to kiss her forehead.

"I don't mind whoever you are." He reached for her right hand to put it on his left chest.

Sophia could feel his heart beats fast. She can even discern the emotions coming from him. Kahit na madilim ang paligid, natatamaan ng sinag ng buwan ang mga mata nito. His pupils are dilated like he is staring at someone he loves.

"I also don't mind whoever you are," someone sarcastically said.

Hindi pa nila ito nalilingon, may humatak na kay Sophia palayo sa Prinsipe.
