Seeing the hesitation in her eyes I waited watching to see if she would decline but to my relief she curled in and I carefully slipped in with her. Moving slowly about letting her rest. She looked exhausted and I lightly brought her closer knowing she wouldn’t make the move herself. My phone flashed and I was stunned to see Silas’s message. Sang had noticed it as well and I saw her shake as she tried to figure out what to do. My eyes widened as she pointed to the radio and I nodded.
Carefully, I turned on the old radio and turned back and handed Sang my phone before climbing back into bed. “Luke?!” I heard Silas on the other end and I watched as Sang answered and quietly talked.
“I am okay.” She whispered into the phone and I stayed quiet but the second her eyes widened and she started to sit up I knew she was moving to much. The medicine had only been taken a couple minutes before and it hadn’t kicked in yet. I slipped behind her supporting her as she barely stayed sitting up.
“Easy.” I whispered quietly and watched her settle back into my chest. I watched and listened to the other making sure she was okay but a wheeze erupted from her chest and instantly I knew she pushed over her limit. Carefully, I removed the phone from her hand and slipped my hand slowly to her stomach needing a careful read on her stomach as she tried to relax. My eyes watched her carefully.
“Luke?” I heard Silas’s voice on the other end and I quickly started to explain.
“She just took her medication from Dr. Green. It looks like she fell asleep when she came home that was why she didn’t respond. The medicine is taking its time kicking in.” I slipped a hand to her cheek and bit my lip realizing I hadn’t said anything and felt her flinch.
Hearing Silas swearing in greek I bit my lip harder as she struggled out of my arms and to the side of the bed. “Sang?” I called out. My eyes widened as I saw her lean over and I heard the wheezes. “Damn. Si she is wheezing a lot.” I whispered into the phone and started to shift.
“Take care of her Luke!” Silas called into the phone and I nodded.
“Yeah, I will text in a bit.” I whispered and clicked off the phone and rushed around the side of the bed. Her eyes were closed and I knelt down in front of her. Her face was flushed. “Cheek.” I whispered and reached up lightly touching the flush on her cheeks and knew her fever was worse. She tried to open her eyes but they looked just as they had when I had carried her down from the tree. She couldn’t focus them and I heard another wheeze of breath, she needed to lay down and sleep.
“I’m going to lift you up.” I whispered and watched her nod a little before scooping her up into my arms. I waited a minute as she slipped her arms around my neck. I leaned down whispering into her ear. “Good baby.” I smiled as she smiled and I knew she was trying so hard to rest. Shifting carefully, I turned off the music and settled us into bed. She started to shift but I held her still keeping her resting on my chest so I could feel her every breath. “Sleep Sang…” I whispered and I slowly felt her nod before drifting.
I waited for a little while watching her sleep and making sure she was resting before I carefully fished out my phone.
Dr. Green: It isn’t to bad. She needs to rest it for a while. Not to much damage done. Thank you for the pictures. How is she doing?
