But I do

Hi face was pale and nervous looking. I looked back at Yeah-yeah and noticed he was starring right at me. 

I couldn't. I couldn't break his heart, not now. 

                                                                                      Benny's POV

Yeah-yeah had just told y/n he liked her. But- but I do, I wanted to intrude but. But Yeah-yeah is one of my buddies. 

If they got together, how would I be able to support their relationship? Out of all people he had to like y/n?

I looked at y/n who was starring at Yeah-yeah, her face was shocked. But I couldn't read what she was thinking. Was she happy shocked? Or did she not like Yeah-yeah like that.

Y/n looked down at her feet. She finally looked back at Yeah-yeah. 

Yeah-yeah spoke with a huge smile, "Date, tonight?" 

I quickly looked at y/n to see her response, I was hoping she said no. Was I a bad friend for wishing that? 

A smile slowly grew on her face, I felt my heart sink at her words. "Sure! I'd love to go on a date with you." 

My face quickly saddened. I hid my frown and spoke up, "C'mon weirdos! let's play ball."  

I took a gulp of water and set my bottle on the bench beside my stuff. I started walking out to the field with my glove and bat in my hand. In the corner of my eye I saw DeNunez looking at me with a confused face.

I decided to ignore him.

For some reason I felt like my heart shattered at Benny's response. He didn't seem to care at all, but why did it matter if he cared or not? I was so confused, I didn't even understand my own feelings. 

"y/n! c'mon!" Yeah-yeah yelled. He was already half way to his position. I shook out of my feelings. I mean, it was easier to ignore my thoughts than deal with them. so I often just pushed them away.

"I'm coming!" I sat up and ran out to my spot. "Smalls! Throw it to second!" Benny yelled. 

"Okay!" Smalls yelled back. I watched as Benny threw the ball in the air and swung his bat. The ball came flying towards Smalls. 

Smalls caught it like usual and threw it to second, where Yeah-yeah was. Yeah-yeah caught the ball and quickly threw it to Bertram who threw it to Timmy, who threw it to DeNunez. DeNunez threw it to Ham, Ham gave the ball to Benny and went back behind him.

We all clapped to each other and kept playing. 

30 minutes later...

"Squints! Throw it to third!" Benny got ready to throw it. "Yeah-yeah stop starring at y/n! We get you like her!" Squints yelled. 

"Oh c'mon! Like you wouldn't stare at Wendy Peffercorn!" Yeah-yeah shot back. Benny looked at Yeah-yeah then to me. 

I watched as Benny threw the ball in the air and swung his bat. The ball came soaring faster than the speed of light. 

I couldn't even keep track of where the ball had gone. I looked at Squints to see if he had caught it. But when I did he had fallen on the ground covering his eye. 

He was breathing heavily yelling, "Ow! Ow! Ow!" I looked at all the boys who were looking at Squints. I ran over to Squints and squatted in front of him.
