Y'all, this update is coming early because Aminah's story inspired a blogger to write a very beautiful article about fat shaming, low self esteem and self love and it's honestly one of the best write ups I've ever come across. F_a_t_t_y, thank you for the brilliant article. It's a must read article and I'll be posting the link on my message board soon so please check it out❤️❤️

KUNMI

"You said I don't need to pick you up after your session, right?"

"Yes," I replied Mayowa before looking up from my phone to look out of the window, to look at the busy Lagos street, to look at the life happening outside, at the bus's conductors yelling for passengers, at the traders hawking their goods.

Life was going on.

Nothing had changed out there.

"Why? Are you going somewhere afterwards?"

"No, I just want to... I'll just come home by myself and besides, your grand opening is in two days time. I'm sure you have other stuffs to worry about concerning your store."

"Eehh, come on. You're more important than all the other stuffs. I'll just..."

"I'm really okay. I'll just go back home by myself. I'll call an uber or something."

"Okay. Sure. No problem then."

"Oluwabukunmi, are you sure you'll be okay? I can just send the driver to come and get you whenever you're done." Mom choose to speak then for the first time since the drive started. She was sitting beside Mayowa and she turned slightly to look at me.

"Mom, don't worry. I'll be okay."

"Mummy Bukunmi, e ma worry, your daughter will be fine." That was Mayowa to her, her voice teasing and I found myself smiling.

"Allow me to worry oo. Odidi omo. You can never be so sure about Lagos Streets."

"Mom, I'll really be fine. Is it not to order uber and enter it? I'll be fine."

"Okay oo. If you say so. But why do I keep feeling you're planning to sneak off to meet someone?"

What?

Mayowa just burst into laughter.

"Of course not!" I was quick to defend myself and I moved to the middle of the back seat so I'd be able to see both mom and Mayowa. "Who can I possibly be sneaking off to see?"

"Who else would it be if not that boy you've been sneaking off to see in Papa's House and the one you've been speaking with every other night?" Mom replied her voice full of laughter and my mouth just dropped.
