I spend most of lunch zoning out. I can hardly pay attention to the conversation right now and it's all because of that stupid kid. Man, that was so embarrassing I couldn't get more than two words out. And why do I even care so much? This is totally freaky.

"What do you think, Val?"
I'm pulled back into reality by Anya. Shit I wasn't even paying attention.

"What do I think about what?"

Anya rolls her eyes and repeats herself
"If Andy and I had to fight to the death who do you think would win?"

"Weapons or no weapons?" I ask
"No weapons" says Andy

"Okay hmm.."
I think it over. Andy's pretty tall and athletic, but he wears glasses and basically can't function without them. But Anya is teeny tiny compared to him. I guess she'd be the one to use more strategy though.

"Definitely Anya."
Andy looks mock-offended as Anya cheers for herself. "No offense Andy, she just seems more coordinated."

"Oh she's coordinated all right"
Andy jokes.
"What's that even supposed to mean??" Anya pretends to ask, but really, she knows what he means.

I roll my eyes. "You two are gross"
They hug. Anya begins to tug at Andy's hoodie strings and I start to zone out again. Andy takes notice, "What's wrong with Val?"

"Oh she's just thinking about her secret boyfriend.." says Anya

"Secret boyfriend? What the hell are you even on" I begin to blush violently. How did she even know I was thinking about that guy? What is she, a mind reader?? Probably.

"Don't even start with me, I saw you talking to that mystery boy before class" she laughs. "He was totally smiling at her!" She says to Andy. Andy nods.
"How come I've never seen him before?"

"Because I haven't even seen him before! I just met him today after he nearly bulldozed me, being an idiot." I huff.
"If you can even call that a meeting."

"Oh boo hoo, who cares if you 'nearly died', he was kind of a cutie.." Anya says slyly. Andy gives her a look. She ruffles his hair.

"No way! He's just another dumb high school boy who I don't even know."
I'm starting to get annoyed. Not because of the teasing, but because of the fact that she's right. He was cute. "He's not even in any of my classes."

She's starting to get more giggly. "Wellll.. you could get to know him. I'm just saying, you're the one who's been all upset about not being in a relationship recently. And since he's hot and you don't know him yet then maybe.."

"Maybe what, Anya?" I say, a little too angrily.

"You could get married and have five kids together and live happily ever after, I don't know! Just stop turning it into such a big deal, I was just joking around. God.."

She looks genuinely upset now. I feel bad, I was kind of overreacting... But instead of making it worse I just decide to get up and go eat somewhere else.
Why am I even getting so worked up over this guy? The whole encounter wasn't even a minute long and he's already totally invading my thoughts.

I try to walk towards an empty table.

Maybe Anya is right..? I should try and get to know him if I can.

What? No! That's so stupid, I'll probably look super creepy to him.
What would I even say?
'Hey it's me the dumb girl you literally ran into, can I have your number? Doy hoy hoy.' I don't know.

Right as the thought hits me, I look up and notice something. It's him. Sitting at a lunch table, looking right at me and whispering something to his friends. Except, once he notices I'm staring right back at him he averts his gaze real fast.

'That was.. weird..' I think.
'No, maybe he was looking at someone else. Right?'

I sit down and finish my lunch with even more thoughts about stranger boy.
