A Shooting Star

DeNunez shook his head, "y/n, we all think you and Benny would be a good couple." My eyes widened to what DeNunez had said. 

He really thinks Benny and I would be a good couple? "What makes you think that?" I asked still shocked.

"Y/n don't you see?! He cares for you! He's never talked to a girl, plus you both are really god at baseball. You guys are like meant to be!" Squints yelled before taking a gulp of his Dr. Pepper. 

I looked back at Benny who was starring directly my way. I quickly turned my head back with embarrassment. Had he heard what Squints yelled? I hesitantly looked back at Benny and saw him smiling at me.

To not make things awkward I smiled back. And out of no where I somehow decided to wink!? Like what?! Benny chuckled shaking his head looking down at his baseball. I was about to look away when he looked back up and winked.

I quickly turned around feeling the blush land on my cheeks. I ran over to Ham who was sitting at his S'mores table.

"Here." I said handing Ham a half full soda can. "Thanks." He said taking a gulp of the soda. I smiled and walked over to the other boys who were sitting together in a corner.

I stopped right in front of the pile and sighed. "Listen. I left my blanket at my house, who's willing to share with me?" I said placing my hands on my hips. 

All the boys rose their hands with boyish smiles on their faces. I sighed, "Yeah this is not gonna work." I than looked at Benny who didn't raise his hand. He started pulling out his sleeping bag out of his backpack.  

I slowly turned away thinking, great now ima sleep on this hard wooden floor. Just great. Suddenly I felt a hand grab my wrist.

I looked up and saw Benny looking down on me with a smile. I made a confused smile and asked, "what are you-" I stopped mid sentence when Benny started pulling me.  He started walking to the same side the radio was placed and said, "You can sleep with me, I don't bite." 

I smiled and squatted beside him, "Alright, thanks." All of a sudden the door to the tree house swung open and in came Smalls with PJ's covered by a blue jacket and a backpack. He looked out of breath, "What took you so long?!" Yelled Squints.

"Hey guys! Sorry I'm late. My mom made me put on my jacket and then she made me do the dishes." Smalls said taking a seat in front of ham and his s'more table. "Aww, your poor little mommy made you do the dishes?" Bertram teased Smalls. I kicked Bertram in the calf making him slightly trip.

"Ow! What was that for?!" Bertram said rubbing his calf. "Don't tease him." I said, with that he shook his head smiling and walked off to the other boys.

Benny was setting up our sleeping area when we both over heard a conversation between Ham and Smalls. I mean how could we not? We were literally right in front of them. 

"Hey you want a s'more?" Ham asked looking at smalls. "Some more of what?" Smalls asked curiously.

"No, no, no. You want a s'more." Ham said pointing at the table in front of him. Smalls made a confused laugh and said, "I haven't had anything, so how could I have some more of nothing?"

Ham's mouth dropped open so did mine and Benny's. "You don't know what a s'more is?!" I shrieked amazed on how someone could miss out on such a delicious treat. I stood to my feet in shock.

Smalls looked at me and slightly smiled shaking his head returning his gaze back to Ham. "Your killing me smalls!" Ham yelled in amazement. I was watching as Ham explained on how to make a s'more to Smalls when a hand grabbed my wrist.
