The Beast

"Wait a sec, Why are they getting all upset? Can't they just climb over the fence and get it?" Smalls asked looking at me. 

I drew my attention back to Smalls, "Maybe they are just being lazy, I can get it." I said turning around jogging over to the fence.

Smalls walked after me watching as I tried to find a good foot placement on the fence. All of a sudden I heard Squints yell "No!" I turned around to see all the boys running up to me screaming 'no' as well.

I smirked at them thinking they were all just being dramatic. The fence was tall, but I could manage. I thought before finally trusting the spot I had put my foot on. I started climbing it concentrating on not falling. 

I had almost reached the top when they were screaming, "Y/n! No!" 

I was so confused what was wrong with climbing the fence? "What's wrong?!" I yelled. They were all screaming like I was going to die or something.

I shook my head and resumed climbing. All of a sudden I had finally reached the top, "Guys! Look I made it!" I yelled still hearing them screaming. I had my feet on the fence and my arms wrapped over the top. 

Benny was the first to reach me, he started grabbing my waist. "Stop! What are you doing?!" I yelled. Was he trying to make me fall? All of the boys finally reached me and started grabbing my legs. I lost my balance and screamed, I slipped and all my weight was in Benny's arms. He held me in the air by the waist so we'd be face to face. 

"Are you tying to get yourself killed!" Benny yelled in fear. He put me on my feet and let go.

"Holy crap you could've been killed!" Squints said panting.

"Y-yeah, yeah truly. What are you doin?" Yeah-yeah said out of breath.

"I was trying to get the ball! And I would've gotten it if it weren't for you guys!" I screamed back. "You can't go back there y/n." Benny said in a soft voice.

Smalls spoke up terrified, "Then how do we get the ball back?" I nodded at his question.

"We don't." Timmy said, "We don't." repeated Tommy.

"It's history." ,"It's History."

"Kiss it goodbye." Timmy said. 

"Kiss it-" Tommy began repeating before getting interrupted by Timmy, "Shut up Tommy."

"It's gone man. Gone." Bertram said shaking his head. "Games over man." Benny said out of breath still.

"Just get another ball tomorrow, we'll never see it again." Benny said. All the boys turned around and started walking, they had only took a few steps back when I asked. "Why not?"

All the boys turned around and starred at me and Smalls. "The beast." The boys all said in sync. Me and Smalls glanced at each other and back at the boys. "what's that?" I asked. I looked at all of the boys questioningly. 

Benny sighed and walked towards me. "y/n, listen to me." He pointed to the fence and said, "Go to that fence. Real slow, be quiet." 

"B-but I-" I tried to talk but kept getting interrupted by Benny. "N-no, n-no, n-n-no." He placed his left hand on my right shoulder. "Just go, peak threw that hole.

"B-but I- I saw something-" I started speaking but of course Benny started interrupting again. "I-It's okay." 

I was so confused, "What's back there-" Benny interrupted once gain saying "Just go."

I kept trying to get a word out but Benny kept interrupting me, "J-just go." He said before stepping back to the rest of the boys.

I looked at Smalls and said, "You comin?" Smalls nodded and walked along with me. I stepped on a stick when I heard, "Shh!" 

Me and Smalls turned to look at the boys and than back at the fence. We kept walking when they suddenly whispered/yelled, "Slow!". Me and Smalls glanced at them than at each other before finally walking again.

When we reached the hole we slowly squatted down looking inside. From what I saw, there was the baseball laying in the dirt. Plus a lot of trash, I was so confused. At first I was scarred to look inside to see what I'd see, but now? Now they were totally crazy! It was literally just a place filled with trash and dirt. 

Smalls must've thought the same since we both looked at each other and back at the boys. "What are we looking at?" I asked squinting at them trying to keep the sun from blocking my sight.

"Shh!" They all took steps back, they looked terrified. Smalls and I looked at each other and laughed. We than looked back in the hole and saw something big snatch the ball. Me and Smalls both fell back and screamed, Smalls got up and ran over to the boys. 

I was far to terrified to even get up. Whatever it was, it had growled. It didn't like us, and it definitely didn't want anyone on it's territory.

All of a sudden I felt a pair of hands pick me up by the arms. I couldn't see who it was since they were behind me. They ran back carrying me to the group. Once they put me down on my feet I turned around to see who it had been. 

It was Benny, he looked down at me and said "You okay?" 

"Something got the ball!" I yelled looking back at the fence.

"what was that thing?!" Smalls yelled just as terrified and confused as I was.

All the boys looked at each other and yelled in sync, "Camp out!"
