Rabbit Hole

I'm running through the pouring down rain, with the hood of my white jacket covering my head, and my clothes sticking to me for dear life. Luckily for me, the rain quickly came down to a trickle, and I could pull back my hood to reveal my equally soaked brunette hair. I took off my jacket to ring it out and tie it around my waist, as I continued on my route to the apartment building. But as I trudged through the streets of Gotham, I couldn't help to notice the man behind me. I noticed that he had been behind me from the time I left campus. He had a tophat on and was abnormally short, and I immediately knew who it was! I decided to try to double back, just to make sure he wasn't following me, even though the building I lived in was right across the street. I decided I was going to walk around the block and try to lose him.

..................

After about 15 more minutes of walking, and I was halfway from my apartment, I decided to see if he was still following me. I peer over my shoulder and find that he wasn't only still following me, but that he was too close for comfort and I panicked! I started running, and he ran after me. I finally found a crevice between two buildings that I could fit through so I made a break for it. "You cannot escape, why even try? Soon, you will no longer try to defy!" He shouted behind me, catching up quickly. He almost grabs me when I slip into the crevice! It was a dead end so I had to wait until he lost interest to come out, so I took that chance to get a good look at my attempted kidnapper. "You run, you hide for me to find. Come out, little rabbit, let me play with your mind." His creepy whispers ruqishe off the walls of the narrow alley, making me shiver. He had a green top-hat, with a coat of the same color, and a red bowtie. He had a wide grin and bright blue eyes dilated with insanity. He didn't move for a very long time, so I decided to crouch down and rest while I waited, and eventually I ended up falling asleep. When I woke up it was raining again, and it was completely dark. I checked the time and it said it was 10:37pm, and I checked to see if the man was still waiting for me, and he was gone. I slowly make my way out of the crevice and back into the Gotham streets and on my way home to sleep the rest of the night in my bed.

.................

I finally arrived back at the apartment building, but not before checking to see if I was being followed. I signed in with the receptionist and she acted a bit off tonight. We usually indulge in conversation and have a few laughs but tonight she just gave me my spare key and went back to work. I brushed it off, saying she was probably exhausted after last night's night shift and having to work all day as well. When I arrive at my apartment, I change into some PJs and head to my bedroom. As I walked through my apartment I heard a crashing sound erupt from the back room. There was a window in that room that always swung open when it was windy, so I sighed and brisked towards the room to close the window, but when I reached out to close the window, I found that it was closed, and that the wind wasn't even blowing outside. I spot movement out of the corner of my eye and I shoot around to see the Mad Hatter standing in the doorway. "Oh no..." I say under my breath. I turn to run to another corner of the room to gain an advantage, but in one swift movement he has me pinned against him and the wall. He has one hand over my mouth so I can't scream, and his arm pushing against my chest, keeping me in place, and one of his legs between mine so I couldn't kick him off. "Sh-shh-shh..." He pushes me harder into the wall. I squirm but for a man of his size, he was strong. "Hold still!" He hisses through gritted teeth and tightens his grip over my mouth. I freeze in fear of something happening if I didn't obey. He chuckles and takes his hand off my mouth and reaches for something. "Drink this." He demanded as he brought a thermos up to my mouth, but I refused to part my lips. "Drink!" He shouts aggressively. I take a drink and he takes back the cup. It tasted bitter, and it burned as it went down my throat. After a few seconds my legs begin to give out and I slide down the wall and onto the ground, with The Hatter still holding me against it. My vision blurred as I slipped out of consciousness.

.................................

It felt as if no time went by before my eyes began to open. I was in a dark room, the only light was the moonlight shining through the window I was facing, and the door to the room was behind me. The room had multiple clocks in it, from big grandfather clocks, to small coo-koo clocks on the wall. When I tried moving I found I was7 strapped down to a wooden chair, there were ropes on my wrists and ankles and there was a tough material pushing my back to the chair. Suddenly I hear the door behind me open, and a bright yellow sheds across the room for a brief moment before the door closes again. The sound of the door was followed by slow, steady footsteps. " You ran long and fast, my dear white rabbit." He chuckled as he continued to make his way around me. My panic grew more with every clunk his boots made when they hit the floor. He finally comes in front of me and my panic goes through the roof! What the heck does he even want, I'm not blonde. "You seem frightened..." He taunts as he kneels down, interlocking his hands behind his back. I finally snap out of my frightened state and growl at him causing him to grin. Sadly the boost of confidence lasted only a few seconds, because after he grinned I immediately shrank. " I knew I chose the right person!" He piped, and stood up straight again. "...For what?" I murmure. "You will know soon enough. But I did most of the work while you were unconscious." I cringe and begin pulling at the restraints. "Don't worry, my new rabbit...this shouldn't hurt unless you make it..." He held up his pocket watch, I heard that he uses it to weaken his victims, and that's when I lost it! I thrashed as much as I could, hoping that something would come loose. "Let me go!" I whimpered as he came closer. "Don't worry....this shouldn't take long..." He held the watch up to my face and I turned away only for him to grab my face and make me face him. "Hold still!.." I felt him start attaching something to my head. I started fighting back and I kicked him and whatever he was working on fell off my head. "You little..." He growled and stomped towards me, but he quickly discarded his frustration and smirked. "You are harder than I thought..." He pushed my head to the back of the chair, pinning it good, and continued equipping the contraption onto my head. This time no matter how much I thrashed, I couldn't get him to stop, and once he finished he stepped back to admire his work. "You, Are. Mine..." I touched his hat and I began to feel a sensation in my head. It was like my brain was vibrating inside my skull, and everything started blending together. I tried to fight back but my thoughts grew heavier the longer this thing was on my head! "Oh I see we have a fighter...just like that Bat! What a nuisance he is. But it is only a matter of time before your little mind can't take anymore, and it will just shut down..." He held the watch close to my ears again, and the rhythmic ticking began echoing in my head, causing a distraction. The ticking added a faint pounding sensation in my head, on top of the vibrating. " Alice will be here soon, rabbit... you don't want us to be late now do you?.." His voice bounced off of the walls of my skull. "Imagine you are falling down a never-ending hole." I had the strong impulse to obey, and I did for a brief few seconds but I didn't stop in time, it weakened me a lot! "It will all stop if you just relax..." I grunted to tell him to stop, but I knew he wouldn't. His voice was getting harder to tune out, and I lost mobility in my arms. It wasn't until the ticking got louder and faster when I felt everything go completely limp. That's when ticking stopped and everything faded out. Everything was silent other than the chiming of a grandfather clock. "When you wake up...you will be mine..."
