Drowning in Fire

Nicco

I shook my head remembering what it was like in my village.

My life has changed so much

...

Nicco led me into this huge room. It was surrounded by stones. All different sizes. Some of the stones were large and covered with moss others were smaller with jagged edges.

A small object flying through the air caught my attention

I gently pulled away from Nicco and walked further into the room

"Wait don't go in there it's dangerous" Nicco yelled out

I ignored his cries and walked closer to the flying object

It was a smaller dragon its scales were iridescent purple with spots of gold shining through as well.

It was Nova!

" lady please come back here. There are no guards around!" Nicco continued

"Nova" I yelled

The dragon in the sky stopped flying in circled and began to head down toward where I am.

My heartfelt as if it would explode

Nova had gotten larger and far more beautiful

It's amazing how quickly she had grown.

I felt a hand grab my forearm and drag me away. I looked up to see Nicco

"What are you doing ?"

"She is the most dangerous one no guard can get close-"

He was cut off by the sound of nova roaring

It was so loud and shocking we both bent down covering our ears.

I opened my eyes to see nova flying down with fire in her eyes. She was focused on Nicco.

She thought he was hurting me

I know understood. I stood up to show her I was okay. But she had murder on her mind

I had to stop this

Stop

"Stop" I found myself yelling

Nicco shook as she came closer

But instead of her attacking him she stood a few feet away from us watching

"Are you okay "I heard someone whisper

I looked around but Nicco was on the floor

"Are you okay luna"

I looked up at nova still staring at me. I realized she doing the thing she did the other night.

Talking to me in my head

" yes! I am fine nova!" I said to her

"Was he trying to hurt you?"

"No, he's my friend"

Nova was silent but her eyes returned to a brown color

"Nova I've missed you "

She said nothing but walked over toward me

I did the same

I walked towards her looking at how different she looked.

She was about my height but very large.

She lay on the floor looking up at me expectantly

I kneeled beside her pulling her large body into my arms. Her scales felt warm and smooth under my touch.

"I told you I would find you" I whispered as I pulled away from her. Looking at how much she's grown

"look at you you are going to be taller than me soon!" I started

She stood up opening up her wings and shooting her body into the air

She flew in circles showing off her wings and her skill in the sky

" Leo taught me everything I know, he's my master"

I chuckled at her excitement.

I stepped back to watch her go but my foot landed on something

I looked down to see Nicco

Nicco lay on the floor covering his head still

I quickly knelt beside him

" Nicco see I told you it's okay!" I said

"I know" Nicco whispered still with his head on the floor

" then why are you still on the floor"

"It's been 20 minutes and I'm sure the prince has already headed to the medic"

I nodded my head still not understanding

"I was supposed to take you there" he stated with a straight face trying to hide his fear

Then it connected

"Oh Goddess" I found myself whispering

" yes oh Goddess, he's gonna kill me "
