..................................................................................

the world seemed to move in slow motion for a couple of seconds. I watched in horror as her body tiled off the edge of the cliff

I opened my mouth

not sure whether to scream or to take the breath I so desperately needed.

I tried to run toward her my she formed ice around my feet preventing me from moving

panic surged through my body, I felt more helpless than I'd ever been before

then I remembered who I was, the prince of blood and fire. without hesitation, I lit my body up allowing the ice to quickly melt. the dragon rested in my arms peacefully thankfully to their fire proof scales.

images of her fading body filled my mind. her eyes slowly closed as she fell. she didn't even try to save herself

she fought for everyone except herself

I was angry, no other words could describe exactly how I was feeling at this moment. I wanted to yell at her, shake her, throw things, but instead, I was left standing here.

The ice on my feet melted,

No matter how intense my flame was I couldn't move it too much. Her gift was stronger than anything I've dealt with

I started pulling with all my might

I won't let her die

I can't let her die

I tore my shirt up into ribbons using to secure the dragon to my back.

I looked down at the ice and then up to the sky in search of Leo but he was nowhere to be seen.

then it happened

I felt a crack in the ice

I started to violently trash until the ice broke into pieces slowly melting into the river

I could feel sharp pains throughout my legs where the ice broke but I choose to ignore them

I jumped off the edge of the cliff without hesitation

I immediately felt the effects of the wind blowing in my face

Why am I risking my life for this medic?

I didn't even know who she was a day ago

I have the dragon why didn't I just leave

But I couldn't get her out of my head

I shook my head and focused on my mission

I squirted until I was able to see her falling figure

She was a few meters ahead of me

Her silver hair blew violently through the wind

She reminded me of the fallen angels

The angels who left their homes in the sky to fight for the dragons

In the stories, my mother would share with me all throughout my childhood

The ones who decided to rebel against the God they served to protect the creatures they loved

Though their actions were in vain at least they were not forgotten

but that was just a fairy tale

I angled my body allowing me to catch up with her
