Social media is the real extension of yourself. You can be raw and meet different people without having to show up in person. A lot of times we worry about how others can perceive our appearances and behavior.
However, the online community is a double-edged sword - whatever you pu out there can be turned against you.

The youngsters definitely need to be educated on these things. The adults shouldn't immediately freak out, red flag everything and pull them away from the Internet without even telling them what to do.
Picture a scenario where someone just said "Hi" to the kid and their parent suddenly accused him of being a creep.
Another instance is dictating what your kids should do on the Internet. Spying on their phones 24/7 raises the alarm for a number of people. It's like you don't really trust them. How about setting a consistent schedule for their studies, chores and freetime instead?
Social media is supposed to be a fun place to express yourself. They can share so many information, ideas and opinions about the world around them.
The cyberbullies, hackers and trolls are never unheard of. It would be great to report them without hearing the typical "What were you doing on the site?" or "That's what you get for oversharing!"
We blame these netizens for revealing their identities and age when their accounts get compromised. Seriously, they're adults so it's their decision to give us this information. They aren't revealing their account number, right?
You also have to understand that every website has their own blunders.
Just because they tell you Wattpad isn't a good place for professional writers, it shouldn't hold you back from checking it out. Twitter may sound like a scary place due to the prominent cancel culture and SJW drama, but there is always going to be many decent communities out there.
It is interesting that people can socialize with others without having to show up in person thanks to social media.
