She took a swig from the thermos and gulped down her medication before handing it back over to Armin. She wiped her mouth with the back of her sweater sleeve and thanked her friend with a bright smile.
"You're welcome."
As this was all happening, Jean had heard the interaction between the two friends at the back of the group. He smiled knowingly, feeling happy for Y/n. It was an understatement for him to say that he had his work cut out for him. He would make sure that Y/n got her words out into the open. After all, his food was at stake, and his money was as well. But he knew deep down that he didn't care much about that part of the bet so long as his friends got a happy ending. He figured that if he couldn't get one with Mikasa he might as well make it happen for someone else.

The McDonald's was fairly busy to begin with, but as soon as the rowdy bunch of teens walked in, the overwhelmed employee up at the front register groaned internally, especially after seeing a familiar crazy-eyed red-head.
After getting their orders and helping Sasha lug her bags of food out, they retreated to the tables outside so that Eren and Jean could inevitably argue in peace and away from other customers.
There was small talk amongst themselves, mostly about what plans they had for winter break. Eren and Mikasa were going out of state to celebrate the holidays. Jean and Marco's families were close and were planning on having Christmas dinner together. Sasha's family was planning on renting an RV and heading to the desert on New Year's to light fireworks without having to worry about being busted by the cops. Connie was going as well since he had convinced his parents that it would save them a lot of headaches by not having to deal with him on New Year's day.
Armin and his grandfather were going to spend Christmas at home as they did every year. Armin was never one to ask for much, so he didn't mind the charming simplicity of his Christmases.
Y/n wasn't sure what she and her mother were planning to do. Usually, they didn't do much on Christmas Eve since her mother never knew if she had the night off from work. She wasn't expecting much.
"You mentioned that your mother was a doctor, Y/n?" Marco had asked, taking a sip of his orange juice and focusing his eyes on the girl sitting across from him and Jean.
"Yup. She's a heart surgeon. So if you ever need your heart microwaved, hit me up." Y/n grinned over at Marco as she took a big bite out of her pancakes.
The blonde that sat next to her giggled. "You're a real clown, Y/n."
"I know I am, Armin." She mumbled, her cheeks puffed out from the vast amount of pancakes in her mouth.
"You're both clowns." Jean crossed his arms and leaned back against the chair now, feeling full from his two breakfast burritos. Y/n finished chewing her food and washed it down with her drink before sticking her tongue out at Jean, earning a smile from him.
"So. How'd you two sleep last night?"
Armin choked on his hashbrown. He quickly grabbed his apple juice box to try to clear his throat as Y/n patted his back to help the struggling boy. She glared at Jean, who was now smugly grinning at her.
"I should have known one of you jerks was going to ask about that sooner or later. You knew about it too, didn't you Marco?" She narrowed her eyes over at the timid boy who slumped down in his chair and sipped on his empty cup of orange juice.
Y/n gave him a blank expression as she turned her focus back towards Jean. She scoffed.
