I was busy receiving some orders from my eateries but a voice filled my ears, a voice that I've been yearning for. Dahan-dahan akong nag-angat ng tingin at nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang makita ko siya. He's really here, he was grinning until it reached his ears that made my heart thumped.
As I gaped at him, I can't help but drool over him. Who wouldn't be? I can't believe that he's mine. He was merely sporting a black polo that is folded up to his elbow, a Rolex watch on his right wrist, and nude khaki pants that intensify his long legs and towered some of my customers but he looks expensive. His polo was tucked in his pants with a brown belt to make the pants more trendy.
He's one of those men that exudes sexuality, intentionally or not that made me fall harder. He can easily make any woman stop on their tracks just to stare at this Greek God. Jet black hair. Bright black eyes. Strong jaw. Fair skin. Romanesque nose. Perfect.
"Can I take you out for today, Miss?" He spoke with a playful smile on his lips. My forehead wrinkled as I stared at him. He then jammed his hands in his front pockets. With that, I burst out into laughter while staring at him that made my customers and employees bore their eyes on me. Seriously?
"I'm sorry Sir but I'm not on the menu," I replied and a smirk formed onto my lips that made him chuckled. Mukhang nage-enjoy siya kaya sinakyan ko na lang. Isa pa, na-miss ko siya. Kalaunan ay napatingin ako sa Manager ng main branch ng restaurant ko na si Micky na nakatingin sa akin ngayon. I gave him my smile.
Years ago, I created my own restaurant - D's Cuisine, and when it got popular, I decided to build a branch around the world. It is also highly recommended that I need to build a branch. I was astonished at that time because my business was effortlessly doing well.
I didn't expect that the market accepted my business and made it one of the five-star restaurants around the country. I'm a Professional Chef and I got enough recognition for it.
"Ikaw na muna ang bahala sa resto," bilin ko na ikinatango niya. I then turn my gaze into Calum, my boyfriend. He was just staring at me and a smile plastered on his face. I winked at him before storming out of the counter. Tinungo ko ang office ko at ramdam ko naman na nakasunod si Calum sa akin.
"When did you arrived?" I asked him without peeping at him because I was opening the door of my office. Nang mabuksan iyon ay agad akong pumasok. Ramdam ko naman na sinundan ako ni Calum at sinara ang pinto. I then took a glance at him, he was already sitting on my rectangular couch.
"Earlier, babe," he spoke which made me nodded. I met Calum Riley Thomson here in the Philippines, the day I got a heartbreak. I took my bachelor's degree in culinary arts in New York. Calum was my schoolmate. He's one of the bands in our school, he's the guitarist and vocalist. Calum didn't know how to speak our language but he's learning. Gusto niya raw na naiintindihan niya ako. Well, I found that sweet.
Tinungo ko ang desk ko at nilagay sa handbag ko ang phone ko. Pagkatapos ay inayos ko rin ang suot ko na plaid pants, a printed tee, a terracotta blazer, and white sneakers. That is my casual outfit at work. I worked at my own restaurant and today, I let my assistant chefs do the cooking that's why I'm wearing my casual outfit.
Sinipat ko saglit ang sarili ko sa full-length mirror ko at napangiti ako nang makita ko na maayos pa ang itsura ko. Kinuha ko na ang bag ko at lumapit kay Calum na nakatitig lang sa akin.
"Baka matunaw ako niyan, babe," nagbibiro kong ani. Medyo nakakaintindi siya ng Tagalog words kaya sigurado ako na naintindihan niya ang sinabi ko. Kanina pa kasi siya nakatitig sa akin e, kung nakatutunaw lang sana ang titig eh baka tunaw na lahat ng tinititigan ngayon. He smiled and rose from his seat. He then wrapped his arm around my waist then our eyes directly met.
"I'm sorry, babe. I just can't take my eyes on you. I missed you so much," he lowered his head and gave my lips a peck. I smiled and kissed him on his left cheek.
"I missed you more, babe," I replied and he grins at me. Ang kaninang nakahawak sa beywang ko ay nasa kanang kamay ko na ngayon. He then escorted me to the door of my office and opened it. Pinauna niya akong lumabas bago siya. Sinara na niya ang office ko at magkahawak-kamay kaming lumabas ng restaurant ko.
We were made our way to the parking lot when someone called me. I can't help but to stopped midway and freeze in my spot. Biglang bumilis din ang tibok ng puso ko. It was 7 years ago when I last heard his voice. I then looked at Calum who's beside me and staring at me.
"Is he the one you're talking about?" Seryoso nitong tanong sa akin na ikinatango ko. Nag-iba naman ang timpla ng mukha ni Calum. Ang kaninang masaya niyang mukha ay naging blanko na ngayon. Wala nang dahilan para magsinungaling pa. Isa pa, matagal na kaming tapos.
"Danisse," he called again. Huminga ako ng malalim at dahan-dahan ko siyang nilingon. And there I saw Luis standing in front of my restaurant while facing me. Luis is my ex-boyfriend. We are in a relationship for five years but cheat happened. Akala ko ay siya na talaga ang para sa akin ngumiti nagkakamali pala ako.
As I stared at Luis, pure rage is all I feel. Kung dati ay kinikilig ako tuwing nakikita ko siya ay ngayon hindi na. Naramdaman ko ang marahang pagpisil ni Calum sa kamay ko. I took a quick glance at Calum who's now staring blankly at Luis. I sighed and look at Luis.
"Let's talk, Danisse," there's a hint of desperation in his voice.
"Sa pagkakaalam ko, wala na tayong dapat pag-usapan pa, Luis," malamig kong ani. I noticed that his eyes glisten as I spoke those. Hindi ko alam kung bakit siya ganiyan pero wala na akong pakialam sa kaniya. He chose to cheat years ago and I won't forgive him ever. Nilingon ko na si Calum at hinila na siya palayo kay Luis.
Kung magtagal pa kami ay hindi ko alam ang magagawa ko.
