"My mom's gone to bed by now for sure" she says. "So. Get real with me yn/n. Do you like anyone?"

The sudden question caught you way off guard, and all you could do is stare at her and feel you face heat up. Mikasa quickly taking notice to your flustered silence and she pokes your cheek as her smile grows.

"You so do!" She says excitedly. "Who is it? Who?" She questions further.

Snapping from your reverie you start to fumble out an answer, trying to dig yourself out of the hole you may have created.

"N-no one!" You say. "I was just shocked by the sudden question" you say, a little harsher than you meant. You see Mikasa's face fall a little bit, and you quickly tried to fix your answer.

A little softer this time, "there's no one I like" you try to reason. "I just haven't really though about it; you know with school and all." A cheap excuse you know, and for a second you're worried Mikasa sees through your lie. She doesn't say anything however and just sort of observes you for a few beats. Growing nervous you try to switch the subject onto her.

"What about you Mikasa?" You ask. "Any non-demons catch your eye?"

She giggles a little bit at that question, and you feel relieved that she isn't bothered by you or your cheap answer. She sighs a little and looks away, not meeting your eye.

"Well, I'm not really sure, but..." she pauses before continuing, still not meeting your eye.
"I remember you telling me not long after we met that you liked girls," she starts. "But I don't think I've ever mentioned that I do too."

You feel your heart skip several beats at what she just told you. She likes girls. Maybe she could like you.

You quickly snap out of your thoughts, realizing she still isn't looking at you.

"That's great Mikasa! I'm so proud of you!" You say, pulling her towards you by her shoulders and giving her a big hug. "Thank you for trusting me with that. I really appreciate that" you say into her hair. She hugs you back just as tightly and starts to giggle.

"You're my best friend! Of course I can trust you. Besides, this IS kinda a new discovery." You ignore the pang in your chest when she says best friend, and continue to give her a big squishy hug.

The two of you talked for a little while longer; eating snacks and talking about how you each found out (you keeping the parts about her out of it) and talking about your waifus and other fictional characters you'd simp for. It was easy conversation, but you could ignore the slight panic you felt about this new information.

Not that you weren't happy for Mikasa; you were, but you were worried that if she doesn't like you like you like her, it's because she just doesn't like you, and not because she isn't into women. Pushing those thoughts to the back of your mind you bring yourself back the present.

Noticing Mikasa yawning more frequently, you look at the time.

2:00 AM

"Maybe we should head to sleep" you suggest. Mikasa looks at the clock herself and nods in agreement. You both were tired from talking and laughing all night, and it was time the two of you got some rest. Sliding under the covers you two lie in your sides, facing each other. It was dark but you knew your faces were mere inches apart. Feeling nervous you bid Mikasa a goodnight and close your eyes.

Suddenly, her arms wrap around your torso and she pulls herself towards your body, hiding her face in your chest. You heart speeds up and you slowly embrace her back, trying to make the two of you more comfortable. You and Mikasa had cuddled before, but especially now, it was different. For you.

You hear Mikasa mumble something into your chest, but you couldn't catch the words.

"Sorry what did you say?" You ask, leaning your head down as you talk into her hair.

"It was nothing don't worry haha" she says. "Goodnight y/n" she says before burying her face back into your chest. You prayed that she didn't hear your racing heartbeat through your shirt, and closed your own eyes to sleep.

Little did you know that Mikasa was sporting a strong blush of her own, grateful that you couldn't see her red face in the dark.
