Chapter 4: The Conspirators

The phone rang a few times until a familiar snarky voice came through. "Hello, Y/n. What's up?"

You scoffed and looked up in annoyance at Armin, who was rolling his eyes. You had both heard the same smarmy tone in Eren's voice and were both just as mad at him as the other was.

"Eren," you had started off calm. "I think you know why I'm calling."

"Was the room not to your liking?"

"You absolute buffoon. Just come over and unlock the damn door!" You frowned deeply at the phone and brought a hand up to your temple, feeling the beginnings of a headache starting to develop.

"No can do, Y/n. I'm afraid that room's the only place left in the house for you to sleep. Don't worry though, I'm sure Armin won't mind."

"I beg to differ, Eren!" Armin had snatched your phone from your hand so he could properly voice his thoughts over to Eren. "Stop being a jerk and open the door! I'll just sleep in the living room or something, I can't possibly sleep in the same room as Y/n!"

Ouch. You couldn't help but feel offended by that even though you also wanted out of the room. Were you really that repulsive? "Damn, Armin. I didn't know that the thought of sleeping in the same room as me was that terrifying." You crossed your arms and looked away from him, feeling butthurt.

Armin's eyes fluttered over to you, his previously annoyed expression taking on an apologetic look as soon as he saw the grimace on your face. "Oh, no Y/n, I didn't mean it like that! I--"

"Damn, that was pretty cold Armin."

Armin paused to glower over at the phone. "Oh, be quiet Eren, you're the one who put us in this situation in the first place!"

Eren had begun to say something before he was interrupted by another voice. "EREN! IS THAT Y/N? ARE THEY CALLING FROM IN THERE?"

"Sasha?" You and Armin had both questioned, the blonde adjusting his grip on your phone as you both struggled to hear the potato-lover's faint voice from the call.

Your ears had picked up on a discord of various noises from the other side of the line, ranging from shuffling to arguing. It seemed that there were others as well.

"Sasha, Connie, not yet!" Eren exclaimed. You and Armin startled at the sound of a door slamming open in the distance, followed by hurried footsteps that stopped right outside the room that the two of you were in. It was clear that someone was outside the door.

"Hello?" Armin called out. The two of you waited for a couple of moments.

No response.

You sighed heavily as you were beginning to feel impatient. All you had wanted to do was have a good night's sleep so you could tell Armin about your massive crush on him in the morning and then run out of the house. Who did you need to kill in order for that to happen? Eren, apparently.

"Whoever's out there, could you just please tell Eren to open the frickin' door--"

Loud, sultry saxophone music was being blasted on the other side of the door, and layered beneath it all, crazed laughs and snorts could be heard. Connie was playing Careless Whisper through his mini speaker that he had brought, while Sasha was occupied with wiping tears from her eyes and holding Connie's phone in her hands.

"JUST GIVE IN, GUYS!" Connie hollered, wheezing alongside Sasha's muffled cackles. They both eventually started singing along with the song at an unbearably loud volume. It was as if the night time only served to make them stronger.

"Give in to what?!" You and Armin had both thought to yourselves. You glanced at each other with wide eyes and quickly looked away in embarrassment. The two of you had faces burning with the brightest of reds that would put Hell to shame. You squeaked and buried your face in your hands as you stepped away from Armin and the door. You couldn't believe that Connie and Sasha had the audacity to do this to you guys. Well, knowing those two, you could believe it. But you certainly wished it hadn't happened.
