Your hand collided against something solid that didn't quite seem like a pillow.
"Hm?"
Though sluggish, you lifted your head up and squinted over at what your hand had touched.
Through the dark, your narrowed eyes were finally able to register the second pillow on the bed.
Which was currently being occupied by one Armin Arlert.
"OHMYGOSH" Never in your life had you moved as quickly as you did now. As soon as it had clicked in your mind that you had been lying next to your crush unsuspectingly for the past couple of minutes, your body went on autopilot and you flew off the bed, your mind completely mortified. How in the hell had you gone five minutes without realizing there was someone next you? Were you that tired? Or were you just that stupid? You mentally facepalmed.
Unfortunately for you, Armin had startled awake and let out a yelp from the commotion. He was now sitting upright on the bed and fruitlessly looking around in the dark for the disturbance. He reached for the lamp on the nightstand next to him and clicked the light on, and as soon as the light came flooding into the room, wild blue eyes caught yours in an astonished gaze. "Y/n, what are you doing in here?" He asked in disbelief, trying to calm his erratic heart beats.
Your mouth was agape and you were momentarily at a loss for words. You looked away from Armin, blushing under the gaze of his questioning look. You quickly sent a prayer out towards Eren Jaeger, because as soon as you got your hands on him you'd knock him clear into next month.
You cleared your throat and stuttered out your shaky reasoning. "Um...w-well...E-Eren told me that I could sleep in here. I swear I didn't know you were in here though! I-I'm sorry!" You tried your best to avoid looking into his eyes, because if you did, you certainly thought that you'd be reduced into a puddle of embarrassment.
The blonde, though still feeling a bit rattled, let out a soft sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. He offered you a small smile, as a way of forgiving you. "It's fine, don't sweat it."
You smiled back nervously, feeling the air in the room go stiff from the sheer awkwardness. After a couple seconds of just the two of you staying in silence, you shuffled towards the door. "Heh, well, don't mind me. I'm just gonna..." You hastily reached for the doorknob, thinking to yourself that you couldn't possibly get out of there quick enough to make the situation less embarrassing. As soon as you got out of the room, you would bolt towards Eren's room and punch him as hard as you could. Or at least, you had planned to do so.
Shaky fingers latched onto the door knob and you turned it. You frowned as you felt the knob stay firm in place, not budging. A few more seconds passed by as you kept jiggling it, trying your best to deny that the damn door wouldn't open. "Fuck."
"Is something wrong?" Armin asked as he got out of bed and trudged towards the door that you were currently battling against. He saw you struggling and asked you to step aside. "Here, let me try. Maybe it just got jammed."
Seconds of Armin desperately trying to open the door passed, and the more he continued to do so, the more the horror had sunken in for him. "Holy crap, I can barely keep my shit together when I hang out with Y/n but now I might have to sleep in the same room with her?!" He kept frantically trying to turn the knob as if his life depended on it.
"Hey, Armin, calm down." You latched onto the blonde's arm and gently tugged it away from the door. "It's fine, we can just call Eren." You gave him a reassuring look to which he responded with an anxious smile. You pulled out your phone and dialed Eren's number as calmly as you could, making sure to put it on speaker.
