I scoffed, "Why would I fall for something who treats me like a dispensable resource?"

Michael nodded, then changed the topic, "That's good. While you were asleep, I was thinking and thought that it was strange that there was a car at the warehouse so late at night. Did you notice anything special about the car? The model or license plate by chance?"

Wrinkling my eyebrows in deep thought, I shared with Michael that I couldn't clearly see the color of the car, but from the outline, it looked like a jeep. I was so focused on how close the car was to hitting Alex, that I didn't pay attention to any other detail. Remembering the gun that we found at the warehouse, I showed Michael a picture that I took of it. "Alex thought that this gun shouldn't belong in our warehouse."

Michael looked at the picture in deep thought and mumbled, "Where did I see this model before?" His eyes widened with realization and he said, "I think this is a model that Bobby sells. It could be someone else, but I remember vividly how Bobby chose to ."

I was still speaking with Michael about potential prospects when Alex returned with a bowl of noodle soup. I took the noodles from Alex with my good arm and Alex leaned over to help me pull forward the side table. As I began to eat the food, I started getting frustrated since my noodles kept slipping off the fork. Seeing my frustration, Alex said, "I should have gotten you something easier to eat." Taking the fork from my hand, he patiently twirled the noodle before handing it back to me. Despite Michael's earlier warning, my heart warmed as I felt well taken care of. I told myself that this was just a sweet moment and I needed a break from all the craziness.

Breaking the calm moment, Michael coughed and said, "Tell Alex about Bobby and the gun." Acting as the messenger, I shared with Alex our earlier revelation about how Bobby awarded the business to transport this gun to another supplier. I pointed out that Bobby may be a suspect.

Alex nodded slightly, "That makes sense, but what benefit does Bobby have in sabotaging this deal? This is a good lead. We can start with Bobby and comb through his suppliers. I'll get someone working on this."

"That's true. Bobby also faces some reputational risk from not deliver the goods." I thought further and added, "Bobby was also the one that told us about Michael. What if that was a decoy?"

"That could be a possibility," he replied. "I think that we need to find a few more clues before making a judgment call. Bobby is a partner for June Corp. and I don't want to raise any unnecessary alarms. While you were asleep, I did start investigating why one of the most important cameras suddenly had a new cord installed. I took my associate to give me a call when he finds the electrician."

As if the electrician was listening in on our conversation, Alex suddenly received a phone call. I overheard him say, "Tell the electrician to meet at my office in a few hours. I'll meet him there. Thank you." Eyeing me sitting on the hospital bed, he also added, "We have a new secretary. Prepare a temporary badge for her. Great. Bye."

After wrapping up his call, Alex said, "Ready to discharge?" He chuckled and said, "There are no breaks on this job."

I almost cracked a joke and said, "How many vacation days have I accrued?"
