You and Lily were walking through the halls, on your way to breakfast. The boys had been missing last night too, so you were rather interested in hearing what they'd yet again been up to at breakfast.

"I hate that they keep disappearing Lils!" You exclaimed rather loudly, as the two of you turned a corner. "You're not the only one." She replied, a hint of annoyance in her voice. "Where in Godric's Hollow are they?!"

"Looking for Prince Hair-gel and his three fools, I presume? They're in the hospital wing. As deserved." Severus' low voice interrupted and you couldn't help but roll your eyes.

"How would you know, Severus." You asked coldly, annoyed at his sudden interference. Lily was completely ignoring him.

He tutted before simply stating; "Trust me. I simply want to warn you."

"WHY THE BLOODY HELL WOULD YOU WANT TO WARN US!?" Lily practically yelled into his face. "We haven't spoken in months since your inappropriate outburst, as you called it!!!" Lily could've caught on fire in that moment, and no one would notice. That was exactly how mad she was.

The greasy-haired Slytherin took a step back and displayed a look of regret. It almost looked like he was sorry for what he'd done. Almost.

Then, he took a deep breath.

"Fine. I'll walk away. But remember my words, Remus is not who you think he is."

He then turned around rather dramatically, before swishing away towards the Great Hall in utmost haste.

"What was that about?" You asked, rolling your eyes. "What a jerk."
Lily nodded in agreement. "Also, what was that Remus thing?" She asked, laughing slightly.

"I don't know." You shrugged. "He's such a drama-queen, he was probably just jealous."

The two of you burst into a fit of laughter for a little while.

"But I do think he's right about the hospital wing." You hated agreeing with Severus, but if the boys weren't at breakfast, then that would be the only other place for them to be.

"Yeah..." Lily sighed. "We have some time to look for them there between breakfast and classes..."

"Hurry up, Y/n." Lily rushed as the two of you ran from the Great Hall to the hospital wing. You only had about 30 minutes before class started and you had to find out what had happened.

However, none of you were prepared for what you saw once you'd entered the hospital wing.

Sirius and Peter were sitting by two beds, looking extremely worried. You gasped loudly as you saw who they were looking at.

James and Remus.

You ran to them, tears in your eyes, asking what had happened. Remus was sleeping, and he looked rather calm. However, James was unconscious with his torso in a white, scary and slightly bloodstained bandage.

"Should we tell them?" Peter asked, sending Sirius a pleading look. "She's his sister, they deserve to know."
"No. Sorry girls." Sirius said, not looking away from James. "You'll have to ask Remus once he wakes up." He sounded weak, and his eyes were tear stained. What had happened?

You looked at your twin once more, let out a sniff and stroked his hair. "Will he be okay?"

Sirius nodded silently.

"Madam Pomfrey says he'll be alright in a week maybe." Peter shrugged. "She's not quite sure."

"And Remus?" Lily asked from behind you.

"He'll be fine tomorrow. Maybe even tonight."

"Thank god."

The dinner looked delicious as always, as it appeared in front of you by the Gryffindor table. You had been worried for James all day, an uncomfortable knot in the pit of your stomach. Luckily, Remus was alright as he sat down next to Peter, a hungry look in his eyes.

"Holy hippogriff, I'm hungry." Sirius exclaimed as he walked over to you, and sat down next to Remus.

Which prompted Remus to abruptly stand up, and move to the other end of the table.

"Sirius. What. Happened." Lily asked, demanding an answer. Sirius only sighed sadly. "It was an accident. I swear. But I can't tell you."

"That's it." You decided. "I have been waiting an entire day to hear what happened to my brother!" You exclaimed. "And I swear to Godric I will find out what it was. So if you won't tell me, I will ask Remus." With an angry grunt you got up and moved to sit next to Remus.

"What was that, Rem?" You asked, your voice magically sounding soft again. "What did Sirius do that made you this mad?"

The boy sighed, sadly stabbing his food with a fork. "Sirius wanted to prank Severus in a... dangerous way."

"And?"

"And?" Remus let out, frustrated. "It put Severus in danger, so now James is hurt because he had to save his life. Sirius was just a stupid idiot, and it's his fault that James is hurt."

You could see the hurt in his eyes. It felt nice to know what had happened, but you felt like it wasn't the whole truth.

"He already said it was an accident." You simply stated.

"N/n, can we please not talk about it?" He asked, giving you a look that practically melted your heart.

You sighed. "Sure."

The next couple of days were weird.

The group had been split up in an unnatural way.

You and Lily were the only ones still hanging out, Remus and Sirius too mad at each other to even have a normal conversation, and you had never seen Peter this confused. He normally hung onto James, but he was in the hospital wing.

It felt wrong.

It was all silent, and you'd realized how James would've probably fixed it by now. Him and his happy atmosphere would've gotten the group together again, and you felt bad for letting it go this far.

Sirius and Remus couldn't even be in the same room. Well, Remus couldn't. You'd noticed Sirius trying to talk to him or get near him, but instead he would turn around and walk away, mostly slamming the door, leaving behind a broken Sirius.

No one was the same.

Remus, more furious than ever. You didn't know someone could get this angry before now.

Sirius, a broken shell. Without James and Remus, he didn't play any pranks or crack stupid jokes. He didn't do anything besides eat and sleep. He didn't even bother to show up to his classes.

Peter, like a scared puppy. Without his loud and protective friends, he had no one. He hung out with you and Lily, but he had a hard time anyways.

And James, still unconscious. Closed eyes, laying still, bandaged up. It looked like he was sleeping, and sometimes, when you visited him, you couldn't help but think that he looked... that he wasn't... as if his heart had stopped beating.

And oh how you missed him.

He used to be the entertainment of the day, the one to get a nice game going, always up to something. Always loud and noisy, ready for everything and everyone.

You visited him every day.

Every day you sat on the tiny stool next to his bed, telling him about how bad things were. How they were getting worse as the days went on.

You hated it.
